    Artist Bluff? Paid Parking?

It's just my opinion and you are certainly entitled to yours. I'm not really interested in arguing about for days on end. Frankly it's not an issue for me, I go up there when it's off season to climb AB and Bald mt and basically have the place to myself.

Paid parking there would alleviate the budget shortfall 🤣

    Clingmans Dome is now Kuwohi

I suppose we see what we want to see. Last November I had to go to Mississippi by way of Memphis for a soccer game, and found everyone to be the most incredibly friendly people we've ever come across. We came away saying "Southern Hospitality is a real thing". I can't recall a single instance...

    Bears Doin the Pemi Loop

That started long ago. We had our camp raided while camping near the Cedar Brook Junction. Two other camps in the area were raided as well. When we mentioned it to the rangers at Lincoln Woods, they replied "Sounds like Brutus...I think it's time to put him down". This was 20+ years ago.

Another NH 4K completion - Posted without comment

I think when we are now celebrating carrying a bunny up a trail (and, yes, they are carried for some/much of the way) list-chasing has officially jumped the shark. Felt that way for a long, long time but this takes the cake.

    Mt Monadnock Lost Hiker

Was with my daughter recently, who has never been much of a hiker. I laughed at the amount of times she followed a water bar into the woods before I gave her a head's up. I explained why they are there, etc. and even admitted I followed one that went into several yards and got myself lost...

At what point does it become enabling?

Quite a few, I bet. I also wonder how many who summit Washington are chasing lists. Some, of course, but I would bet a vast majority are just "doing Washington"; like Franconia Ridge or Monadnock, etc. In my story above, we didn't count it and returned a year later....and several more times...

At what point does it become enabling?

Long ago, we summitted and my younger brother (6 yrs old) wasn't doing well. It was getting a bit late so my mother essentially begged them to take a couple down on the Cog. For $20/ea about 5-6 hopped on and had a miserable ride down. The rest met us at the bottom. This was I think...

Lydia finishes the 4K list - 4 years old editted

I'm the parent of a competitive athlete in college currently and I've seen that type of attitude often over the years. Kids who were pushed really young more often than not faded out earlier. At some point kids need to do what they want to do and no amount of pushing can make that happen. The...

Lydia finishes the 4K list - 4 years old editted

Unpopular opinion, but I'm never in fan of any "youngest" or "oldest" records. The eventually of all of them is they will end up in a tragedy. I started hiking young, doing my first peaks only a little older than her when she completed. It's an incredible accomplishment for her, not trying to...
