Losing Weight and Getting into Shape

I'm at 190(down from 225) ...... doing a lot of running (3 x 10miles per week plus two hours of soccer one evening), no other exercise. I stopped losing weight at 195, so I started eating more and dropped another 5 pounds. I've now leveled off again. Don't know if I am in hiking shape but I...

    Colvin/Blake via Ausable Lake

If you get caught, you will be sent back and be made retrace your path back to the legal trail. I know that several years ago, the Ausable Club was very vigilant in watching for trespassing hikers.

    Macomb

I see that there is a trip report saying that someone traveled from Lillian Brook to S.Six and E. Dix. This report does not mention if the Macomb trail was broken out. Does anyone know if anyone has traveled to Macomb recently?

    Macomb - 1/9/10

I want to bag MaC sometime in the next 2 weeks. Are you interested? I am thinking of climbing Saturday ..... maybe up Lillian Brook and down the slide. I may also head across to east Dix. If you want to climb but can't do Saturday, I can climb mid-week.

Losing Weight and Getting into Shape

It seems that running is the exercise of choice if you plan to lose some weight, but what exercise method should I perform if I wanted to get fit and ready for a winter hiking season ( assuming I don't hike much in the other three seasons)?

Losing Weight and Getting into Shape

Adam, I just found this thread and had fun reading it and glad to hear that i am not the old fat slob who has been trying to loose weight this summer. I started the summer at 5'10" 225lbs ........ started running and eating less and although I am still 5'10" I am down to 200lbs. Unfortunately...

Giant/Rocky - Feb 7th You may want to start a new thread - the Saddleback/ Basin heading is old news.

    saddle and basin, Feb. 7th

Good choice for an inexperienced "winter" hiker. The climb up Saddleback from Basin can be hairy in the summer never mind mid-winter.
