Indian Chris and I are going paddling there and camping out in one of the lean to's....your welcome to stop by and say hello or join us. My first time there...I'll ask Chris to chime in and add the details if your interested...

Hey Adam, hope all is well....I have your address, will get the cd to you eventually.....don't know about Long Lake, just gonna point the boat straight and go .....maybe Chris will chime in with more info...we have drysuits for the cold water just in case our "Saranac's" end up at the bottom of the lake :D

Freddy....good to hear from you....one day soon we'll meet up again....maybe I can make the summer gathering....be well

All are welcome!...just come prepared...water temps are cold.
Find us at one of the three leantos near the confluence of the Raquette and Cold Rivers.
We'll be hangin' with Noah John!

Dave, Wish I could make it but already had plans for the weekend. Have a great time. Maybe you and Chris can meet me at Island Beach SP in NJ one weekend for a day paddle

Wish I had seen this earlier I would have loved to join you. Just re-varnished my
wooden kayak over the winter and I'm dying to get it wet.

Carol, i'd love to go to maine with you guys, just sept is tough with the beginning of school....maybe another one of Jay's Little tupper lake....that was great....I bought a canoe map of the ADK, cheap $5 looks pretty cool...will keep all posted..

Just can't do this weekend..... maybe Next trip, keep me posted.

Maybe some Saturday we could meet on the Hudson.

Safe and sound....got back a few hours ago...2 am to be specific and i'm already teaching...got a few minutes to myself....will get a report out tonight...it was great..

Been up since 2 am..little tired....will keep it short....

Chris picked me up at 1am Sat morning and we drove the 300 miles to long Lake and had breakfast at the dinner...hmmmmm good...

We went to the boat launch north of the bridge about 3-5 min away and loaded up the boats....We then paddled on the east side and took a few breaks, it would be my longest day trip yet. The wind was at our backs and we had a little snow/rain shower going on above us. Some times more snow, some times more rain. (we both use full drysuits for safety) Around 5 miles on the east side we pulled over where we saw 2 lean to's and had lunch there...we would later stop back there on the return trip and hike part of the trail to see a wonderful 3 tier beaver dam...wow!....so going forward north we continued to the end of the lake and then it became a narrow river (Raquette) we paddled that until it joined the Cold River. Right around there Chris had us pull into a beautiful lean to that was overlooking the junction of both rivers.....really nice....we got there app 2:30 pm Sat afternoon.....we had a celebratory drink and then we went on a wood hunting trip....after gathering we though would be enough, we started a fire...Jay you would be proud of me, no 5lb firestarter this time....just the small one they sell for 88 cents....we ate and laughed, drank a little, then had a nice huge steak/rice/vege meal on the iron skillet that fits in my boat...hmmm good...we had little sprinkles and some more snow flakes....well this report is going on to long.....we wake up Sunday, had rice and potatoes, matza and eggs, packed up the boats and left our area app 11am sun morning...the wind was supposed to be at our backs, not really but what u gonna do...we did a lot of house site seeing on the west side of the lake, crossed back to the east, ate, then the wind was really bad there so we crossed back to the west side to hide along the shore and stay out of the wind....while we were on the east side i mentioned the beaver dam we saw, we stayed there for app 1 hour looking around....really nice....we eventually got back to our launch site app 6:30....packed the boats and had a nice philly steak and cheese sandwich back at the dinner...ahh the sad part was then driving the 300 miles back home....we saw very few birds on the water but we did see a red fox while we were getting gas somewhere near Albany....will get pics up hopefully wed...gotta go...

one more thing...Sunday morning was really cool, you could see that snow fell and was still falling on some of the mountains surrounding us....I got a few pics of Chris paddling with the snow up high...just so many things happened...one disappointment... I bought a vhf radio for emergencies and I was told by a local volunteer fireman that even if I called over channel 16 no one would respond..."Your on your own" was his answer...after hearing that I think there should be 3-4 people in a group paddling if possible for emergencies...I'm always paranoid....bad habit
