    Hiker Dies on Haystack Mtn.

I had only met Ray a few times. I believe the first was a small gathering at Marty's place on a 4K footer award night _ and was immediately struck by how gentle a soul he was. He exuded a calm and peaceful spirit, unassuming but not unforgotten. RIP, Ray...

Liberty, Flume and seeing stars in daytime!

Holy cannoli, Batman! You never know what danger lurks where, eh??? Glad the poles did their job and helped brace the fall. I like the patch job you did with the boots! No more hiking for you until the Manhattan Half Marathon is over and done with, my friend!

    Restaurants in Lincoln area

I also would vote for Truant's ... Woodstock Inn across the diagonally across street if you're into beers. Peg's directly across the street for breakfast is a big favorite. Closer into the heart of Lincoln, there's a decent fish and steak place on the righthand side heading away from...

A Canister of Connection on Redington

What a nice reminder of the life lessons we learn on our hikes. The mountains _ just like the people around us _ give us so much if we only put in a little effort and are receptive to it.

Dang, I won't be able to make that weekend because I'll be doing the Manhattan Half Marathon. My trip to New England won't start until that Monday ... BTW, what -- or who -- is GG???

    July midweek hiking?

Hi there, friends and fellow hikers! As many of you have already heard, I've moved down south and am currently living in Hot-lanta. But I've still left my hiking heart in New England ... Which brings me to a planned visit up north in a couple of months, and I wanted to give folks an early heads...

    Where Would You Live?

Well, I just moved again. I don't know yet if it's a dream place but it's been pretty nice so far: Atlanta, GA. The best part is being able to drive around in my convertible Beetle with the top down _ in April!

"Hiking" Manhattan for the Macy's Parade

Thank goodness you and Judi had better weather for it this year than last! Wish I could've seen it on TV but I was doing the Manchester Road Race in CT -- and it was a downright balmy 50-degrees-plus!

Boston (sort of) Beer Night -- Nov. 16!

Not even a looksee at the new knee -- unless some real wildness took place after I'd departed! But it was absolutely amazing and heartening to see Pat getting around with neither crutches nor a cane, nor really much of a limp that I could detect. Way to go, Pat -- now we hope Audrey has similar...

Boston (sort of) Beer Night -- Nov. 16!

A belated note to say thanks for a great turnout! It was so nice seeing old faces and a few new ones, and catching up on everyone's lives on and off the trails! I saw a few cameras so hopefully someone has pix they can post.
