Full Moon Presi Traverse attempt 8/16

Bobby- excellent job on the report. THis was a good trip in the sense that we had the opportunity to work thru tough conditions as a team and move on safely. The decision to turn back was a good one, conditions were a little worse, we got a bit disoriented and decided to go down- since the...

I came across this today and never saw it before so thought I'd share, on 8/31 the auto road opens at 430am to get up for a sunrise viewing. Great for those with others who don't hike who could share in the sunrise- assuming there is a sun to see of course. Link--...

Thanks all. Wasn't worried, just wondered if that were for all cards since I don't recall always seeing that written. Thanks again.

So how many GigaBytes and I getting?

Looking for a new card after a recent failure and I noticed this wording next to one of the links provided in the recent thread for memory cards- The advertised memory capacity of this device represents unformatted capacity. Please note that once formatted and due to variations in flash module...

Date of Hike: July 19, 2008 Trail Conditions: Used many Trails- Lower Airline and Shortline in good shape, little mud. Kings Ravine Trail and Chemin Des Dames boulders were a little slick so we used very careful footing. Upper Airline and Gulfside in great shape, rocks pretty dry. Spur trail...

Driving to the NJ Shore question

Hate to say it but as a former Jersey Shore resident- Exit 83 GSP – a Saturday ride to the shore is bad news unless as suggested you go off hours. Even the other roads near me would be undriveable during the beach season. And you are heading a good deal further south where it drops to two...

    Coolest Place You've Ever Slept?

In the Sierras; next to Garnet Lake under the view of Banner and Ritter Peaks. Slept under the stars, in a stock camp that was unoccupied except for the person preparing for the next group. Survived bear attack of the camps food overnight. :) Pic of site here and of camps views-...

Things to do in Las Vegas?

For some close up hiking you can head to Red Rock Canyon. I only had time for one hike- I think it was Turtlehead Peak. Nothing hard, but hot and dry with a lot of scree. Cool views all around, nice red colors.

    Auto Vandalism Mitigation-Presi Car Spot

One incident doesn't mark a trend but a couple of years ago Sapblatt and I were spotting cars for a Presi attempt and there was a car with a smashed window at the Clinton Rd lot. I guess my point- and peakbaggers- is no place is peferctly safe, but all the lots involved with a traverse I have...
