Love this hike, actually met Buffalo and Tough Cookie on this the last time out, closing in on on their 52WAV. Agree, late October is choice in the Whites, but most of the foliage is gone… nice TR and pics! KDT

Did this same route with Judy and Emma in '08, but in the opposite direction. Should have waited for fall, as the blackflies were pretty thirsty in May. Like you, we only saw a handful of people all day. Nice pics and report! I'd like to return to explore Moriah Gorge… KDT

A well conditioned hiker such as yourself will have no problem hitting all the Tumbledown bumps as well as the Jackson's on a single hike. I would guestimate 8-10 miles and less than 3000' elevation. Great way to spend a day if you ask me! KDT
