Really needed a solid hike, been too long. (6 weeks to be exact) My limited free time for sept. was spent on the mt.bike. I had 2 planned hikes in sept. an overnighter that got cancelled for threat of severe weather and a morning hike that got cancelled because I wasn't available. The plan was for a quick 2 day hit on baxter with my buddy chris, but he got sick, so I opted for something close to my house. I've spent many days in evans notch and wild river area (30+) all day hikes but never backpacking. I decided on doing a 2 day loop starting from the stone house gate, 31.7 miles, 18 miles 1st day, 13.7 miles 2nd day. peaks; blueberry,speckled,e.royce,w.royce, n.b.f. +s.b.f., camp @ spruce brook. Awesome trip hope to do annual fall backpacks in this area!
The trip started out with a bang! On trail @4:35a, pitch black no clouds, full stars and a dirt rd., with open fields to enjoy the stars. I went up stone house trail. Still dark when I got to blueberry peak, so I aimed to get to the clearing on blueberry ridge trail, for a nice sunrise breakfast!
