    Happy Endings and New Beginnings!

I think your trail name should be Happy Ending (see thread title). Way to go, MEB!

    Lists of John hits Maine

I started entering all my info and then grew tired and realized I don't need to keep track of my data in 17 different places just to brag. I know I'm in the lead and that's all that matters ;)

    Compact Gearing

I love it when you talk dirty like this... I ride a triple (30-42-52 and 12-25) and am very glad for the range. I spend most of my time on the middle and outer rings but since I'm usually 80 pounds heavier than my riding buddies I appreciate the lower gears on the hills. They don't dare laugh...

I looked for Gary Moody threads but they are all locked. Views from the Top Be careful out there folks!

Go to Katahdin - ca. 1923

The Maine Forester is the yearbook of the University of Maine School of Forest Resources. The UM library recently began a project to digitize and archive as many issues as are available on its site. I read the following article and thought many of you would enjoy it. Pay particular attention to...

    Big Bonfire Band Jam Springfling.

I think UFC was referring to the fact that Chomp usually travels with slightly-smaller-than-life girls that require a bicycle pump and come with a 90-second warranty.

    Sustainability in the outdoor industry

I have a lot to say on the matter, much of which I've said before but I'll start with my basic premise: People should stop buying so much stuff that they 1) can't really afford (including external costs) or 2) don't need, or both. This would solve many of our collective problems. Reduce, reuse...

    Subaru Owners?

that's what I thought when I looked at one the other day, too, but then a friend who just bought one said they have a weird part that swings out and is actually much better than it appears. Did you see one up close and confirm that it stinks? I haven't seen what my friend was talking about but...

    Subaru Owners?

I really, really wanted to love my Outback but I just don't. I like it for sure, but I don't LOVE it. I'm 6'4" and 250 and it's kind of cramped for me. Sure, the AWD is wonderful and I often appreciate the little extra clearance. I forgot who started this thread but if you are a larger person...

    Go Bode!

I'm wicked impressed with how Bode has reinvented himself. Even if he's only doing it to satisfy the media, he comes across as way more humble and the results seem to be rolling in. I really liked the comment at the finish line from one of the other skiers (I didn't catch who it was) that showed...

    New National Park in Maine...

I'll clarify for those who don't know what I mean and didn't do any reading before replying. I did not express my opinion on the matter. I'm merely pointing out that this is not a novel concept and before folks reinvent the wheel I suggest doing some googling so you can come to your own opinion...

    New National Park in Maine...

This is a great example of why real news outlets hate the blogosphere. If you don't know what I mean, please do some reading about Maine and national park proposals before replying.

Banff Film Festival World Tour 2010

I'll be at Banff in Bangor tonight. Anyone else? I'll try to remember to wear my VFTT hat just in case.

    Your road bike.

If you want max versatility get a CX bike and another set of tires, or complete wheels if you can swing it. CX and road frames are quite similar. You don't need different wheels, per se but it's much easier to have a second set all mounted and read to switch out, rather than having to change...

    Pimp my new/old Karhus

and few are still on that combo :D I wonder what happened to the guy who bought mine on ebay for his Denali trip. I hope he made it... Those GTs are mighty fine skis, though! Joanna's pair in a 17-something are great in the trees.

    Pimp my new/old Karhus

For an all-around bc, touring, junking-around binding, what more could one ask for than a Voile 3-pin, with the cable for when it gets fun? It's really simple, kind of cheap and won't break. If it does break, it's redundant, but it won't. Get them and go skiing... Nice find on the Equipes!

    Calling all young map afficionados...

This contest came across my desk and I thought some fellow VFTT map geeks might be interested. Good luck and show us what you come up with! I have no connection with any entity mentioned below - I just thought it might be interesting for some of you...
