    Burgeon Outdoor Brand

Funny you mention that name, the former Wild Things stitching room in Gorham NH recently had a for sale sign on it and now has a Burgeon Outdoors sign over the door. WIld Things used to make climbing gear but in the last few years it looked like they were mostly making gear for special forces...

I agree completely, its an outdated confusing document.

    Carter Dome Rainbow Trail Camp/Water

This is still the law of the land as far as I know https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5363715.pdf As usual my editorial comment is that whomever developed the brochure either deliberately intended to confuse recommendations and restrictions or just was not very good at...

New List - Maine High Peaks Scenic Seven

These are mostly not high summit trails, my guess is they may not be that challenging to you, nice territory but not long days. Half the challenge may be fining the trailheads. Definitely worth trip up to do the Bigelow Loop over the summits as a day hike and Abraham as a day hike. Sugarloaf...

New List - Maine High Peaks Scenic Seven

There has been on ongoing attempt to build awareness of the Western Maine high peaks area. Its funded by various groups. I found this version that is not paywalled https://dailybulldog.com/outdoors/high-peaks-alliance-launches-scenic-7-hiking-challenge/ The area is a pretty depressed economy...

Locking Bike Overnight At Flume Gorge Parking Area

There are multiple types of bike thieves. If a thief with a resale market wants your bike, its gone and either sold out right or stripped for parts and the parts are sold. Sad to say there are plenty of folks who will buy high end parts at a big discount even though they suspect they are...

    Magalloway

The back road conditions in the entire Pittsburg area are probably going to be degrading. The grand bargain struck when the state "protected" the area from development and preserved long term forestry included that the state of NH took over road maintenance. It would be funded by a fee on all...

Locking Bike Overnight At Flume Gorge Parking Area

BTW, I have a beater bike and and a expensive E mountain bike. I have owned the beater since I bought it with money from my paper route about 50 years ago. I still lock it just in case someone decides they need to more than me. The only reason I leave a bike at a trailhead is avoid a long walk...

Locking Bike Overnight At Flume Gorge Parking Area

I do the same. I have a long cable and stash the bike in the woods. Thieves go where there is easy opportunity which would be an active bike rack. Most would be too lazy to wander around in the woods.

Mt. Monadnock_ hello there old chum

I have lived in NH since 1987. I have only climbed it once. Too long of a drive from Gorham, with all those big mountains in the way. ;)

    Lowe Alpine Contour IV

I wonder if you go to beach with fine sand and then lay down and wriggle around a bit and leave an impression of your back. Then match the stay to the impression.? Anyone with access to large 3 d scanner could do the same thing. I see those ads on TV for the furniture place that uses a scanner...

    Geartrade

I must admit, like many other folks, I have quite an inventory of gear. Some were nice ideas at the time but just didnt work out. I had a very high end Hyperlight Gear tent that I bought several years ago that just didnt fit my expectations or use. It was a close out and by the time I decided...

    Parking at Zealand

BTW, even though the parking is 100%, the lot typically is full to capacity most weekends until the fall. There is overflow parking down the road.

    Lowe Alpine Contour IV

My old Mountainsmith has the same set up I have never heard of formal procedure on how to do it. I just curved it until it seems to line up with the curve in my back. The key with bending aluminum is to not kink it. Ideally use a large radius surface rather than a sharp edge like s vise. For...

    EMS Sold -- Again

It is on various commercial real estate websites. More than a few business listings do not have signage on the property. Unlike residential, listings, commercial listings do not typically show up in one place. There are also many commercial listings, by owners that are in no rush to sell but if...

    EMS Sold -- Again

There used to be a small firm in the Fryeburg area called Log Cabin Designs that made a lot of EMS gear. It was usually a good copy of the latest designs. LL Beans did make sure they had some gear designed for the east coast. Congress Sportwear in Brunswick Maine made a lot of their higher end...

    EMS Sold -- Again

Chapter 11 means that there is some hope that the business could be reorganized and continue functioning but not that far away from chapter 7 which is liquidate the assets and close the doors.

    Bizarre Bear Vault Issue....Twice

Not sure about a bear vault but various "plastics" will cold weld. Usually it is differential expansion and contraction. Anyone who as stacked empty dry wall buckets on occasion will get two that will not come apart. Wait until cold day and our hot water over the outer bucket and it usually...

Now that the weather pattern has shifted, surprisingly no rescue reports on the NH F&G website.,
