    First 2011 Cohos trailwork weekend June 3, 4 &/0r 5th

    Yes, that was the windfarm project in question. I did scan the Cohos trail forums but did not see anyone post anything yet. My friend got word of logging for the windfarms off a snowmobile forum. Apparently they have already logged down to the 2700' mark on Dixville and I think he said the...

    First 2011 Cohos trailwork weekend June 3, 4 &/0r 5th

    Perhaps not the best place to ask the question but....I am getting rumbles that the Granite-Noble wind farm project is once again going forward and a lot of clearcut logging is going on. Any word on how this may affect the Cohos trail? Maybe reroutes that will need to be done? Brian

    Thought this was an April Fool's Joke when I read it...

    Hey UAV's have the ability to launch missiles, so why not load one up with supplies? Now you just got to find the volunteer to catch the missile when it is launched. :D Brian

    Why Is This Man Smoking a Cigar?

    Ahhhhh memories! :D I seem to remember some foul brown liquid drunk upon that very cliff too....not sure what is more detrimental to his health...whacking or seegars and booze! ;) Brian

    Vermont's Mt. Monadnock

    This may not be entirely helpful, but.... Last spring my friend and I hiked up Dixville (not too far away from Monadnock) where, at the summit, we spent a good deal of time talking to a couple who had snowmobiled up. The man was telling us he was a local, and we actually got on the subject of...

    Yeah, I think this should not count unless he was at the very LEAST wearing shorts. :D Brian

    REI dividends now available

    $64.76, the vast majority from my REI Visa (it is pretty much the only one of the two cards I have that I use all the time.) Got the email with my dividen amount in it last week and that same night I had it spent. I picked up a Hennessey Explorer Deluze A-sym. Price $199.99. Take 20% off...

    Trail Maintainence in the Whites, what's Ok ?

    Just to add my .02 cents, I pretty much agree with the other adopters here.....blowdowns no problems, waterbars no problems, but brushing I ask please no. Blazes no also, but I have not put great effort into blazing my section because thankfully it is very obvious and has only ever needed very...

    Where the Hale is the WF Trail?

    What is funny is this is similar to our time on it. We went with someone who HAD been on it, though many years previous. She said not to worry, that she would remember where it was, so I did not bother to do any more research into finding the trailhead. Bottom line we wound up whacking up to...

    It's OK Sabrina, I didn't think you knew and the entire purpose of this was not to point fingers, name names or try to embarasse the persons who did do it (which is exactly why I did not name names.) The only reason I even know of the situation is because someone who was in the area when this...

    Wildcats A->D

    A fair and valid question. To this I would say it depends. Obviously safety is the biggest factor....I know this sounds silly but if you don't know how to cut a large tree safely then I would say leave it. A large tree can cause harm to the cutter if they are not aware of how to avoid the...

    Wildcats A->D

    I am not trying to start an argument. I don't know if the person who did the illegal maintinance was AMC trained or not. The point I guess I am trying to get at is that there are ways of going about this correctly. One is to contact the parent organization responsible for said trail who will...

    Wildcats A->D

    That section of trail is maintained by a family in it's third generation (at least it was as of last time I was told, which was not long ago.) I hear they like to keep to the absolute minimum standard of a 4x8 corridor (non snowpack) which means it will not take long for a snow build up to...

    Where the Hale is the WF Trail?

    Don't feel bad Tom, if it is not broken out and you don't know exactly what to look for then it is a bitch to find. What makes it even more tough is that it starts heading up at an odd angle so that if you are coming at it (as in the direction you came from) it makes it even more tough to find...
