    Dog Day on Franconia Ridge: Toby's 47th & 48th! 7/9/11

Geneva sends a fuzzy high five! Someday they will get out on a hike together. Right now she is learning to kayak, she is getting pretty good at it, even without opposable thumbs!

    Mt Isreal

I was just hanging out at the house chilaxing with MEB when on a whim we decided to go and walk up Mt Isreal. We tossed some water and snacks into tiny packs and headed for the trail head. We had a great walk in the woods to what should have been some really great views, but instead was just a...

    Info on Cape Breton

I biked around the Cabot Trail a few years ago, great way to explore that area! I went with a company run tour, Freewheeling Adventures. They did a really great job, nice folks, and really fun trip. They have all sorts of different ways to explore the area, bike, hike, kayak etc... If you...

Oh yeah! My dad used to help out a friend who owned a Sauna in Richmond Maine. In the winter he cut holes in the pool ice so you could go from the sauna and plunge into the pool and then into either the hot tub or back to sauna. Amazing we didn't all die of heart attacks! : ) I've gone into...

It is mind numbing cold! My sister and I jumped in once after the hike and I thought we were both going to die. The kind of cold that just takes your breath away. Quite refreshing! :)

    Club MEB Trip Report

Jen, I really do want to try to bring Geneva to the airport with her pack on and see if I can get away with her being my carry on luggage. She could curl up into a tight little ball and totally fit into the space alloted! And she is under 50#s so she wouldn't cost extra! She didn't like...

But Pa! Geneva will be sooooo dissapointed if she doesn't get a summit kiss for her 48th from you! You have been on a whole lot of her 48. ;)

    Club MEB Trip Report

Well, I signed up for another weekend at Club MEB. This should in no way be confused with any club that sounds similar. You don’t come home freshly coifed with a manicure and a pedicure and relaxed from facials and deep muscle massages… You come home bruised and scratched and bug bitten and...

    Biggest Nature Surprise

Black Hills ~ South Dakota When I moved out west I traveled for a little over a month just camping and driving and had no agenda or plans, wherever the winds took me that day. I came upon the Black Hills in South Dakota and was blown away, I had never heard of them and was so surprised to see...

    Bear Canisters

Hum, it seems we have gone from trying to keep bears from eating our tasty freeze dried meals to wondering how tasty bears are themselves... Thanks for all your input and comments. :)

ah, the 'heart attack' bird, so named for giving me a heart attack every time one takes off just as i was about to step on it in the trail because I didn't see it first... Super shot, again! ;)

Heading out on a trip where bear canisters are required. Just curious about the brands sizes and ways others have dealt with needing to use them. Thanks!

Haha! I spent FAR too much time hanging out in the crappy old basements looking for just the right color or feel or thickness of fleece in the late 80's in Lawrence... Pity what they have done with the business... I even won an Apex award in 1989!
