i guess i feel that the people i hike with would be fine alone, especially if they told me so themselves.
likewise, i would hope that they would feel confident leaving me alone if i told them to go ahead.
if i was having cardiac issues or broke my leg and they took off on me to go bag a summit...
baseball is a team sport, not hiking (in summer around here anyway).....everyone should be able to take care of themselves....
but,
its unfortunate that stuff happens on the trail and obviously i think if any one of us came across someone in need we would help them without a question.
bigger...
i dunno.
i dont see the problem with leaving him. if they had known he was having medical issues then left him would be a differnt story. if someone tells me they are ok then i trust that they are ok. if somone told me they were having chest pains and cardiac issues then i would obviously not...
Its unfortunate, but many states dont have funding to enforce these kinds of laws (fishing license). i for one am guilty myself when i travel to Mass and head out for some unplanned fishing every now and again.
cold hollow does make a damn good cider donut, but you gotta get them when they are fresh and warm, otherwise they kind of suck.
also the free cider samples are great, but dont drink it before you go hiking, it goes right through you.....
the donuts are not "dinky" in size at all, actually very large. they have a maple frosted with bacon that they sell at the farmers market in burlington. i do not eat bacon, but...i have heard great things about it. it is basically the maple frosted with chunks of bacon on it.
perhaps it is...
