A Pleasant Day on Liberty and Flume with a descent of Flume Slide Yeeh Hah! 1/6/13

Good job on two more winter summits. It sounded pretty interesting coming down the Flume Slide Trail. Great snow cover on the trails and summits so far this winter. Love it! Donna:)

Hi Chris, Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Shows you how long it has been since I've checked any messages from VFFT. Seems everything is on Facebook these days. I'm not but Michael has a FB page (I do hijack it every now and then). We'll send a request. We had a great Christmas and...

Spaulding and Sugarloaf Winter Bushwhack - 12-28-12

Mark, Those were incredible hikes! The snow and blue skies are stunning. That sure was a long hike for you guys the first day and I can imagine how you felt afterwards; without much training at home. It looks like winter has taken off with a bang for NH and Maine. Let's hope that it...

Shelburne Moriah, where have you been all my life?

Dan, There are tons of trails out there to hike in the White Mountains. Nothing like hiking one of the smaller "gems". I looked at our list of 52 WAV and we've done about half of them. Thinking we may continue on with completing the list; but we do need to also finish a couple of 4000 footers...

    All 3 Carters 11-18-12

Adam,. I great report and photos as always. It is always fun to hike with a group. Mt. Hight is one of our favorites with one of the best views in the Whites. Being a 4000 footer (not official though), you could say you hiked 4 of them. Donna:)

White Cap Mountain (100 Mile Wilderness) 11/22

Ed, Enjoyed the report. What a fantastic way to spend Thanksgiving. Your wife is a "gem". Donna:)

    Mount Tecumseh- post Sandy

Chris, Nice hike! When we hiked Tecumseh we came up from Waterville Valley as it was winter. Slow and steady is the way to work up to the bigger mountains. You'll be ready in no time. Donna:)

    Mt Cardigan 10-27-12

Adam, Great pictures and story on your hike to Mt. Cardigan. We had the same experience as you did upon reaching the summit - no views. That means we will also have to make a return trip on a sunny day. Donna:)

    Hiking The Tripyramids - 10/16/2012

Thanks everyone for taking a look and great responses. Even though we had limited views at the top, I am sure we'll be back again one day taking in another of the trails to the summit. Also, if you look closely at the rock, we could see a face. The slice taken out -- the eye, a small bulge --...

    Katahdin...sneak attack! 10/13/12

    Hiking The Tripyramids - 10/16/2012

All through the night it had poured making us unsure if we would be able to hike the Tripyramids on Tuesday. According to the weather channel, the rain was to stop around 3 am. When we woke up at 5:30 it appeared the rain had indeed stopped, so we headed out for hearty breakfast at Peg's. The...

A Short Hike to East Pond - October 16, 2012

Several years ago we saw this YouTube video and since that time we have wanted to hike to East Pond and today was the day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aRQkJnU8RU It's a short hike; 1.4 miles with an 800' elevation gain to the pond from the Tripoli Road trailhead. In no time you are at...

    # 40 - Hike to Mount Whiteface 10/13/2012

One of the goals of our fall vacation was to add several 4000 footers to our list of the NH 48. We drove 45 minutes from Bristol to the trailhead for Mount Whiteface along Ferncroft Road. This area is so different from most trailheads in that it has a real “country” feel. The lot was...
