very nice report. it makes me want to befriend bob and geri (they seem so nice) and hike remote peaks with them. and be a contented passenger in the monster suburban with xm radio. :D

for the record...
steve smith & mike dickerman have a section in their 4,000 footer book regarding how many peaks can be seen from each summit. these two guys assert that 43 can be seen from carrigain. these guys are not of course infallible, but they do have a pretty good track record.

hikerbob is always climbing the same mountains i am on nearly the same days. nowadays i just take this for granted and keep an eye out for him while on the trail (i know what he looks like from his copious and excellent photos).
i'm pretty in shape (i like at least 15 mile hikes w/ good elevation) and i have to admit that the hancocks kicked my booty last week. i don't know if it was blood loss from the black flies or what, but they were harder than i expected.
i should have worn pants. i shave my legs (i'm a cyclist) so they got to me easily. i almost put on my gaiters strictly for bug protection purposes, but it was just warm enough to make it seem uncomfortable.
