Greetings,

I have a co-worker who used to do quite a bit of hiking and is in very good shape. He's going up to the WMNF this weekend with his family. He has two young daughters ages 6 & 8 who've done plenty of hiking with him and has a two year old son who rides in the backpack.

My co-worker has been to the Whites many times and done quite a few trails. Since he's bringing his kids I recommended the Glen Boulder Trail. I haven't been on this trail in many years but I remember it as being a beautiful trail with great views and well marked. For this reason I recommended this trail for him and his kids. Has anyone been on this trail in recent years? are the views still good? still well marked? Like I said it's been may years since I did this trail and trails can sometimes change. I just want to make sure that I made a good recommendation. Thanks in advance.

Although the trail is well marked and the views are beautiful, there is a sections of the trail that involve a scramble, so I’m not certain if that is the best choice for your friend and his children.

The Glen Boulder trail is a wonderful trail for a nice day, but does require some scrambling as "MadRiver" pointed out. We've seen small children on this trail higher than some adults - all depends on their comfort level.

Thanks Mad River. Glad to hear the trail is still the same. As for the scramble, I don't think it'll be a problem. This guy is in great shape and his daughters have pretty much been raised with hiking. They've done some pretty challenging trails already. He has a very good Keltty backpack which he straps his son into very snuggly. They're not exactly rookie hikers.

Thanks again for the reply. Thanks to Bob and Geri as well.

One of my absolute favorites! Hiked it three weeks ago to Boott Spur. Scrambling is minimal. Lots of alpine flowers. Take special care at trail juctions, one is a little confusing. It seems to point down a ski trail (Deritissima, or something like that).
