Looking for hiking boots that work well in wet/slippery conditions

Hiking in the rain is one of my favorite things. Three most impotent things to me are flexible sole, soft rubber sole and placing my center of gravity plumb to the point of contact where the rubber meets the trail. grog

Fatal moose-car collision on 93 in Sanbornton 10/23 AM

hey Andrew Personally I'm more than happy to take on the risk and live in prime Moose habitat. That's easy for you to say, you drive a four wheel drive F-250 with a big plow frame in front. If you ever hit a moose you'd be having moose burger all winter. Posting at 10 o'clock on a...

Do you like to snowshoe / wear snowshoes?

I only hike Mt. Wachusetts and Mt. Monadnock in the winter and I like to wear sneakers all year round. I agree it's much easier to wear snowshoes but I'm out for an all around workout. I find wearing sneakers keeps my feet warmer because I'm using more of my foot muscles to keep my balance...

    What to drive in winter

I got a set of blizzaks from tire rack and put them on my steel wheels, and bought a mag wheel and tire combination from tire rack also. Great service and price. Tires and driving skills are the most important things in winter driving. grog

    Injury on Lafayette 10/13

Jim, great job your brother did!!! Hope he gets all his stuff back. I lent my stuff a few times on rescues on Monadnock and the good rangers there always make sure I get it back the next time they see me, if I didn't get it at the end of the rescue. Good luck to your brother again, seems like...

    Car sleeping

Pete, I sleep a lot in my corolla and I find it very comfortable with plenty of height to change clothing. I find sleeping in my corolla more comfortable than sleeping in my truck, just put the seat down. When I finish my concrete floors I take a lot of cat naps in between passes of my power...

    No guilt needed?

I thought it said quilt too. Guilt was something I was taught as a youngster so when I grew up (not going to happen ) I would give lots of money to these folks to absolve my guilt. I didn't think I like lists, but thinking about it I do have lists - hiking the steepest trails in the northeast...
