What Bushwhacks in Baxter

Spencer & I climbed Pogys last year, search should find a trip report

I climbed Center Mtn with the PeakMaster several years ago from the trail from N Lk to W Lk which then existed and is still being lightly maintained

Both of these are former fire tower summits which are wooded today, and are best climbed by peakbaggers looking for unusual destinations rather than the best hikes in the park

BP has done a good job putting trails up the best peaks, until you have climbed Katahdin, Brother-Coe, Traveler, Doubletop, and Owl I wouldn't bother with any bushwhacks

My friends and I like to go to Wassataquiock lake and rent a canoe and go to north shore of the lake . From there we climb to the cliffs of South Pogy and up. Great views from the top of the cliffs, scree and spruce bushwacking.

has anyone ever climbed Pinacle Ridge on Traveler (Peak of the Ridges) ?

Looks excellent!
I'd like to see if it weighs. ;)
I think Roy may have done it. Note that the Pinnacle Ridge is not a peak, it's a route up to Peak of the Ridges involving a slide.

Pinnacle Ridge topozone

MMG describes it as "the most spectacular of the four routes up Traveler".

Not me. The trail up was exciting enough, when a thunderstorm came up we bushwhacked N from Traveler to the falls trail to avoid the exposed ridge entirely.

All spots I'd love to have been to. Maybe someday... I had plans a few years ago to tag Fort from the Russell Pond side... but then an ill-placed step on a slippery log took care of that. Made for a rough finish to the Davis Pond loop.
