    Mt Marcy from South Meadows

I would like to think that the mountain stood a chance of defeating us today, but clearly it was blindsided by the stealth Vermont contingent. We arrived at 9:30 AM, and snuck in the backdoor by trying out a semi super secret parking lot at the end of Meadows Road, just a mile prior to the...

3 hikers die from fall after crossing warning barrier in Yosemite

Skimpy barrier? I did the hike a few years back, and it wasn't the skimpy barrier that kept me out of the stream, it was a fear of plunging over the waterfalls. For the hike to be safe, it should not require an insurmountable chain link fence to keep people out of the river. I think it would be...

    The end is near

No, this is not a biblical prophecy, just the end of my 67 journey coming up soon. Though, the rapture was scheduled on my birthday this year, and the other end of the world is scheduled for just after I get married this fall, but that's another story. With 4 peaks left on my list of 67, I...

    Mt. Mansfield VT

The Maple Ridge trail is awesome, but it has two crack climbs where it is a bit exposed. Here is the tougher one, I would just do the Sunset Ridge trail up and down, easiest and most scenic trail up and down.

    Gentlemen thieves?

Is this stealing of catalytic converters new? I have never heard of this before I saw this thread. I would not be overly mad if someone stole mine off of an old car, but if i saw someone trying to saw off one on my new car, I think i would probably go postal on these knuckle heads.

Backpacking on Isle au Haut, Acadia National Park

Those are some beautiful pictures. Deer Isle-Stonington is the quiet part of coastal Maine, I only ventured there once, but it left an impression on me. It has a sort of haunting beauty about it, almost an ethereal beauty about it. I remember seeing tourquoise waters that did not seem to belong...

    Vermont Waterfalls

I took a trip to check out Honey Hollows Falls a few months back, right after my computer crashed. I havent had a chance to upload photos since then, but here is a cool pic of the mini falls before the big drops. Really, a pretty river valley that i would not have found had it not been for...

Completion of my NH48 on Monroe - 07-31-2010

Congrats on finishing your 48. Your website has definitely helped me plan out some hikes on my own journey to climb all these Notheast peaks. It also helps me see what all the views looked like on all the rainy hikes that I did. I often wonder, what would this peak look like without the...

    Cabot and some Carters

I took a look at the calendar last week, and suddenly realized that it was mid September. Where did the time go? I realized that I had spent the last two months of my life travelling, going to weddings, and building a patio for my lovely girlfriend. Mostly building the patio, seen below just...

    Vermont Waterfalls

Thanks, I haven't checked out Red Rocks yet, even though I have been in Burlington for almost 10 years. I have been to Bingham Falls and Huntington Gorge, but on my radar next is the Honey Hollows Falls. I think I checked out your website a few times Roadtripper when I was planning which falls...

    Vermont Waterfalls

With temps soaring into the 90's this last week, I checked out some new waterfalls in the area. I have been in Vermont for quite a while, but somehow I had not made it to Moss Glen Falls in Stowe or Bolton Potholes in Bolton. So, I wont bore you with my words, just take a look at the pics, Moss...

    Skylight, Gray, and Marcy

Neil, This epic trek was completed on Sunday. I read your trip report, and i must concur that it is very manly. But, you do know that they make trails that go to the tops of these mountains, you don't need to wonder through the woods with a GPS or compass. Also, I would do my trip reports in...

    Skylight, Gray, and Marcy

Man, I guess i turned out to be British in this thread instead of Egyptian, this is very confusing. Maybe I will just change my screen name to my other nicknames of Tut, Toot, Tuttles or any other derivation of my last name which sounds fun to pronounce. This hike was actually fun in spots...

    Skylight, Gray, and Marcy

I had spent a while looking at maps, trying to decide exactly how to tackle Skylight and Gray in the Adirondacks. Turns out that they are just in the middle of frickin nowhere. I originally planned to go in via Upper Works, until I realized while riding the ferry over to New York, that the trail...
