WOW! Wicked nice pictures!

Now I want to go there even more!

Thank you for posting.

Awesome photo's...:D

I was checking your photo's out... can't quite tell if you have my Uncle's or Cousin's lobster boats in your shots. My Dad grew up in Stonginton and my Uncle and cousin still lobster. My Uncle has a big dock right in the harbor.

I took a few friends there last summer while we were camping in Acadia and hiking. I plan on going back maybe next summer and have them drop us off on an Island for the weekend with kayaks...

It's a beautifull Island and area!

WOW!!!

incredible...such simplicity and such BEAUTY!!

Is this a camera setting...or a Photoshop type project?

... I cropped the first photo and used a "warming filter" on the second photo. Both of those changes were made in Photoshop Elements.

The remaining images are straight from the camera (with the exception of downsizing for display on the web). The camera has some very cool built-in effects.

I posted a thread about this camera on the photos forum a while ago, with some first shots...

and here's a gallery of "creative" shots taken with this camera. Not really nature shots, although most were at least shot outdoors.

Thank you for the kind remarks. Much appreciated!

Wow, great photos man. I haven't been to Isle au Haut since 05 or so, and these pics make me think it's gotta go back on my to-do list for 2011. Such a great place to go to get away from everything and everyone...

Thanks! I had not been there in quite some time myself. First visit was in September 02, and I went back with my son some time shortly after that. Like you, I was overdue for a return trip.

I've posted a photo gallery of the trip.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Those are some beautiful pictures. Deer Isle-Stonington is the quiet part of coastal Maine, I only ventured there once, but it left an impression on me. It has a sort of haunting beauty about it, almost an ethereal beauty about it. I remember seeing tourquoise waters that did not seem to belong in Maine, contrasting with an aging fishing community. I have not made it to the island yet, but it will remain on my bucket list.

Was looking in your pics for my Uncle's boat or Cousin's..but I think your pics are from just down a little way closer to more buildings...
This is of my uncle's lobster boat from last summer when my Uncle took a few of us VFTT's out lobstering..

Love Stonington and the area!:D

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing!

I am going to spend a weekend in Stonington sometime soon, just to get some photos. As King Tut said, this is truly a beautiful area.

In August of 1986 my wife and I spent part of our honeymoon at The Surry Inn. That was my first visit to the vicinity, and I've not been back nearly enough since then.

For those who have not yet visited Isle au Haut, it's well worth the trip. In summertime you can take the ferry from Stonington direct to the campground at Duck Harbor - no backpacking required! Bring bug nets and bug dope. Maybe even a free standing tent to put up in your lean to. The mosquitos can be ferocious in summer. There were more than I expected even in early October.
