What is the equivalent of climbing Everest 16 times?

I just went and looked at the trailjournals guestbook . . . we must've been on the same wavelength. :) My favorite cheese is pepperjack cheese, all gooey and melty on bread or tortiallas . . . yummy . . . gonna go make myself a grilled cheese sandwich after I post this. :) Can't wait to see...

What is the equivalent of climbing Everest 16 times?

The very initial pain was in the arch and I solved that mostly after experimenting with about 7 different insoles. Then there was excruciating pain in my toes, and that was also cured after I realized my feet had grown in size, actually a whole size and a half, the third foot pain was also...

What is the equivalent of climbing Everest 16 times?

What is the equivalent of climbing Everest 16 times?

Well, the best experience is a hard one to pick because it has all been so much fun but I will say hiking the many "balds" of NC and TN and being able to spend so much time with Brian. The worst experience is my foot pain. I have had terrible foot pain since leaving Springer. The pain has...

What is the equivalent of climbing Everest 16 times?

Brian's original trailname from 2004 was Regular Brian. He didn't keep that name since he aquired it because of meeting Flying Brian Robinson. The name would not have been related to this year's hike so he chose to get a new name, however, some people on the trail use their existing...

What is the equivalent of climbing Everest 16 times?

According to my 2008 Thruhikers Handbook page 45 . . . "On a hike from Georgia to Maine (or vice versa), a thru-hiker will climb and descend a total of ninety-one miles, the equivalent of going from sea level to the summit of Everest and back more than sixteen times!" So, what you might be...

    Darren's father passed away

Darren (and Carmel), I just saw this and I am so sorry for your loss. After seeing that wonderful photo tribute, I know that the good memories are plentiful and the love in your family abundant enough to carry him in your hearts where he will live for a very long time. Hold each other, smile...

    Franconia Ridge Rescue Followup

Solo in winter, I have always carried a down sleeping bag and stove and cookset. Now, I hike with Brian and we carry only 1 sleeping bag between the 2 of us. No matter what hike, we always have a sleeping bag and a stove, fuel and cookpot with us all winter. I used to do so much hiking alone...

    SPOT Satellite Personal Messenger?

Thank you for the clarification, David. The way it was "presented" to me by my family was as a good tracking feature and of course I responded appropriately to be "tracked". The "I am OK" feature sounds a lot more resonable. How much does the service for just that cost? Do you still pay a...

    SPOT Satellite Personal Messenger?

My family wants me to get one of these and keeps bugging me about it. I have even gotten 2 offers from cousins to buy it for my upcoming wedding, but ya know for some reason, I feel like it's kinda overkill. I don't know why I am having such a strong aversion to it, but I just don't want...
