    Tuckerman's today

Wasn't busy when I was there Saturday...hiked in at 3AM...was out by 8AM. But probably met about 1500 confused glances on the way down that morning... All alone in the bowl! 206473_10150218279067387_156147782386_9019691_987556_n by Jim Salge, on Flickr

    Winters of the Future

In addition, I've been doing some reading about how the increased open water around the arctic with actually increase the strength of the continental arctic highs, and produce more winters with the blocking pattern schemes that we are seeing this winter. Maybe. Again, the fact is that...

    5 days? Yeah right!

Love the team effort that this sort of event brings out in many people. I think it's fair to say that as amazing an athlete and hiker as Farmer is, he couldn't do this alone this year! That is BY NO MEANS minimizing the feat, but merely highlighting the wonderful community of hikers we have in...

Your Top 10 Photos of 2010...

About this time every year, we all begin to recap and recall the year in hiking, and reflect upon all of the wonderful places we've been. Many of us take our camera along with us, and capture special moments. These may be aestetically beautiful, or capture something with a special meeting. I...

    HDR tips, please!

I echo, and am glad to hear that I am echoing the the sentiments in this thread. I don't use HDR, and use Grad Filter, and an occasional double processed RAW to get the desired range. It's actually become quite easy to blend two exposures together in photoshop by hand, and will yield FAR...
