ADK #46 Babeh!! Saddleback and back!

Congrats HuiYeng! Privileged to have accompanied you on a few along the way. I can't believe Jay let you stop at the wrong summit! He'll never hear the end of it from me! Jay, does that mean you never really finished:D?

    Katahdin 2009

Hey Bob, I'll loan you my Maine guide book and maps if you like. I can leave them with Topofgothics. I've been to the park several times and done all the 4K's and NEHH as well so I can share beta with you anytime. Maybe we could talk David into this trip? If you would allow a couple of more...

    Mt Liberty: FOT48

Topofgothics and I were on Bondcliff (later joined by 7summits!) for FOT48 flying two flags, one of which I carry for a friend who lost a fellow firefighter on 9-11. We could see your flag through the binoculars and the rest of the range as well. It really did turn out to be an awesome day!

    Trampsing around Colorado...

Thanks for writing this up Jay. (I finally just posted the Gannett trip.) Colorado is simply amazing. While all the rock-hopping gets a little stale, the views are worth every painful moment! I agree, LaPlata was a great hike. The only bummer was the existence of a rubber glove and a pair of...

    Gannett Peak, Wyoming HighPoint

JayH and I joined a new friend (Matt) to do Gannett Peak (Wyoming’s highpoint at 13,804’) located in the Wind River Range. We started at the Trail Lake Ranch trailhead. This route is longer (50 miles) and has more elevation gain (10,800’) than other routes but gives you a little easier summit...

50 high points in 50 states

Highpointing is cool! I just snagged #30 when JayH and I did Gannett Peak. It's considered the second hardest by most highpointers, and I can attest that it was tough. 50 mile trip, 50 degree couloir, wicked exposure on the summit ridge... FUN :D FUN :D FUN :D. But I've had a great time...

The Mount Washington to Great Range Traverse

Saturday July 26th was "Seek the Peak" up Mt. Washington (my favorite mountain) and Topofgothics graciously agreed to accompany me on this yearly tradition. Given the last minute weather change (to only a slight chance of thunderstorms) we decided to head up Huntington's Ravine in the hopes the...

Beautiful Baxter for My Birthday, July 18-21,Part I

Happy birthday Sabrina! Nice way to celebrate! When I did the Brothers, Fort and Coe, the following day I did Baxter and Hamlin. It was awesome to look over from the table-lands to the Brothers, Fort and Coe and get a real sense of the ground covered in a day! By the looks of your avatar...

    Panther Gorge-Haystack Hype?

Fantastic TR Bob. It was very cool to finally meet you. When that little roar of thunder passed I high-tailed it over to the Little Haystack/Haystack col and waited, just in case! Glad you didn't get hurt up there. But I bet the bugs could have flown you off the summit if you were! Panther...

    ADK peak-bagging weekend: 3 bugs, 9 summits and 1 sore foot (7/4 - 7/6)

Great report 7. I have a picture of me on the summit of Colvin the day before you were there with mud on my face! Topofgothics never even hinted that it was there. But it was everywhere else on me so I don't know why I was surprised! It was very fun to run into you at the Hostel! And then...

Marcy, Haystack, Basin, Saddleback 6-27 (from the garden)

Trails used: Hopkins Trail to Van Ho up Marcy, then Phelps trail to Range trail, down Orebed and out Southside. Trail Conditions: Mud on Southside is minimal. Hopkins, while clearly not used as often as Phelps, is in good shape but fairly narrow in places. Up top on the flat section before...

    Dix Range (from Elk Lake)

Dix Range (from Elk Lake) 6-21-08 Trail Conditions: AWESOME! Trails are in beautiful shape. Mud holes never rose above a 1 on the Boot-sucking scale. Even the herd paths have been cleared. No way to get lost up there these days! Brush is pretty closed in however, so I was soaked from the...

18 days of increasing insanity & 1 little Cascade cure

I'd love to tell you it was some amazingly difficult slide climb that resulted in a lost shoe... but no such luck, I wasn't even outside! At least I wasn't on Big Slide :D.
