    Flags on the 48 - 2011 - The Ten Year Anniversary

    Two peaks remain after 10 hours. Washington and Wildcat D. Both have non-hiker means to get to the summit. Can we get all 48 covered in under 24 hours???

    Quebec City: hiking and other things to do

    Don't worry too much about the language difference. 20 years ago, you'd have a problem but not so much now. Just realize that everything is metric up there. The speed limit sign that says 100 but it's in kilometers per hour not miles per hour. You might want to bring a conversion chart...

    Trail Maintainence in the Whites, what's Ok ?

    I like that idea. My trail does not have a kiosk though. I have seen along the M+M trail several birdhouse shaped notebook holders that folks can log themselves into. It would be useful to trail maintainers if we had something like this type of resource however I am sure it would be...

    Wildcats A->D

    I'm just happy to have a section to work on and call "mine". I'm happy when I read a report and someone says my adopted trail is in good shape. I always try to get some feedback from any trail reporters and most reviews are positive. It's a good way to promote stewardship for the trail...

    Ice Age on Wildcat Ridge, 11/9/2010

    Thanks for the heads up Earl. Brian and I spent a full day several weeks ago brushing everything out. Looks like we will have to remember to bring our axes when we go back up there in the spring.

    Flags on the 48 - 2010

    Thanks LRiz and Tom but I do have Carter Dome squared away. We are in need of a taker for Wildcat D. If you take the the AT from the Glen Ellis parking area, I can guarantee you that you'll have one of the best maintained trails in the Whites.

    Flags on the 48 - 2010

    We have had two peaks that have had cancellations on them. Carter Dome and Wildcat D. We are having communitcations issues on the site and I am unable to contact the "other hikers" listed under those peaks to see if they can ensure that the peaks are covered. If there is anyone out there...

    Frodo was indeed in the Original group on Mt. Liberty and thus the organizer of the event. I'll have to pick up the magazine when I'm in Pinkham next week.

    Flags on the 48 - 2010

    Yes indeed, roughly two weeks away. The Flags website does not reflect it, but we may be in need for someone for Carter Dome. I understand there are a lot of corrections that need to be done on the Flags peak list. I apologize that it has not been fixed up.

    Wildcat D...quick question

    That section of the Wildcat Ridge trail is the one I adopted. The river crossing at the beginning should only really be a problem after some rain. It can be done with a carefully thought out rock hop but I usually just cross shin deep with my crocs on and stash them in the woods after I put...
