True Patriot where were you going to ski? Anything in the Whites above 2500 feet will have a total of 2-4 feet by this weekend. Very large storm. -Mattl

    Ok, I'll do it... BIG SNOW STORM(s) 2/17, 2/19!

Snow in the White Mountains is just really getting going with storm 1. It will wind up into the gulf of Maine and snow through tomorrow. But the second storm looks like it could drop more then 2 feet at elevations above 2000 feet. That starts tomorrow evening.

Yeah, I do not agree with that snow map at all. Burlington and Gray both just issued warnings for my area(Lebanon, NH) for 10-20 inches of snow. That is just from the first storm.

    Ok, I'll do it... BIG SNOW STORM(s) 2/17, 2/19!

So the two storms to mention are Tuesday night(tonight) into Thursday morning, and a much larger one Thursday night into Saturday or Sunday for the mountains. The first one should drop a solid 10-18 inches in the Whites, and outside that area, it is a horrible situation trying to forecast. It is...

Finally A Snowstorm On the Way

Also to add to this, after the heavy snow ends, there should be a large backlash/upslope event after as well. Could be quite a few areas that get over a foot. We will know more tomorrow though. This is a big deal since we have been in one of the worst snow droughts I have ever seen.

    SNow or lack thereof 1_26_10

Luckily for us, some very nice snow squalls tomorrow should make for good conditions once again in the White's. 4-8 inches looks like a good bet above 1500 feet in the northern Whites. Franconia may do well :) It will be followed by very cold air, around -20 to -30 on Mount Washington Friday...

New world record recorded wind speed

Why the hell did it take 14 years to verify, my god. Still, I guarantee Mount Washington gets consistently higher wind then Australia.

The AMC huts backcountry report is a good way to find out too. They are reporting 30 at Zealand, and 34 or so at Hermit Lakes. So a lot of snow was lost, but the good news is that since it is frozen, the snow will turn into a block and will actually last longer into the year. It's snowing in the...

Potential New Year's blizzard to blanket New England mountains

Look at the Nation Weather Service forecast for Berlin, NH. A chance of snow showers almost everyday. It wont always add up to a lot, but it will be there.

Yeah the snow showers will continue pretty much all week in the mountains.

Potential New Year's blizzard to blanket New England mountains

If I lived in Conway, I would be mad, seeing how essentially up the road in Crawford Notch they got 2 feet..Burlington just broke it's all time greatest snow storm with this at 33 inches so far, with more still falling. The snow is some of the lightest we ever get, so skiing is going to be...

Potential New Year's blizzard to blanket New England mountains

Burlington and the Champlain valley were in a locally heavy area that was caused by some sort of warmer air being trapper. Burlington talked about it some. One of the only times you will see Burlington get 3 times as much snow in a storm as Jay Peak who only got 7 inches. -Mattl

Potential New Year's blizzard to blanket New England mountains

This was an odd storm, some of the places I thought would get the most snow, didn't. According the Hermit Lake, they only got a little over 8 inches last night, while From Crawford Notch to Franconia and Bethlehem got 16-30. The snow was squeezed into some places and dried out over others. I...

Potential New Year's blizzard to blanket New England mountains

7 inches here in Enfield, and Wildcat is coming in at 16 so far, Cannon 12. Winds are really starting to blow it around too.

Potential New Year's blizzard to blanket New England mountains

So far many places have had 4-6 since Thursday, with some areas by tomorrow morning with 8+, BEFORE the main storm even arrives. Some of the models are maxing the snowfall right over the northern Whites. So from Cannon, to Carter, there will be 18-24 inches, and 3 feet in places like Hermit Lake...
