WMNF Hiking Trail with ATVs . . . Not Good, and Illegal! (Peaked Hill Pond: 05-Jul-09

Very nice, yes I share in your anger for ATV's on that trail as well since msot of it is within the WMNF. Peaked Hill Pond is beautiful, but unfortunatly I do not make it much past the pond since I love to trout fish in remote ponds. Nice report.

Mountain Lion in Pawtuckaway - Let the debate begin

The tough question on this is wild or released from captivity. Being in Southern NH, this would bold well for both of these theories. I believe it is a Mountain Lion from the description, so I think that part of the debate is easier to solve. They are very secretive animals, so there could be a...

"I hit a moose and it wasn't even hurt!"

I hate seeing that, cannot be sure if it was a human error or moose, just sad to see he didn't die instantly and had to suffer for a period of time.

    Guess the waterfall

You impress me Nartreb, good mapping skills. Waterfall is almost unknown and the best I have seen south of the Whites in my opinion in NH. Grouse has pics that show it being bigger with the cliff, he should post them. I live on the trailhead to it, Smith and Half Mile ;)

    Guess the waterfall

West of Cardigain. Near a large body of water. I don't think most have heard of it, but it is a very cool place. Go to google maps and use terrain to find a deep ravine, 200 feet deep or so.

    Guess the waterfall

OK since grouse won't give a hint, I will. It is in west central NH in a deep ravine, and is unknown to most. It is about 20-30 feet high and has a large cliff on the left side. The trail to get to it is about 1.5 long.

Gotta Get a Name for this Place . . . Unknown Pond is Already Taken! (02-Jun-2009)

Shhhhhhhhhh!!...this one was supposed to be kept a secret. Oh well, I spent 3 days camping there once enjoying the area. I named the pond Hidden View Pond, since it can't really be seen from anywhere. Seems appropriate, maybe it catches on. It's rare in the Whites for a pond to not really be...

    Early June snow thread?

Yeah a good amount of frost this morning in Lebanon, even covering roofs. Lots of tree limbs and some trees down in Enfield too. Mount Washington posted a nice pic from up there.

    Zeacliff folks!

Nice pics, took bad you didn't take them out past Shoal towards Stillwater, then they could have really seen the Pemi! Yeah Zeacliff is still my favorite view in the Whites.

Spring Hiking in the Upper Valley 5-16

Your pics came out nice, by the way, Bentley is limping now on his right front leg. I made sure I got all the quills out, but I think it is still a little raw. Anyone on here know a good treatment for it, or if any attention is needed further?
