    Down Jacket Recommendations

Hi John, I've an EMS 650-fill Down w/o hood and an EMS Prima-Loft w hood. The down one is lighter and take out much less space. The Prima-loft is heavier (even without hood), less squeezable, but warmer. I ended up taking the Down one to the Big R and the prima-loft for NE winter hikes. The...

I'll be there. I have been practicing making Korean pancake, the last batch was quite edible, at least all ingredients were cooked :o.

    artsy-fartsy or just weird?

It reminded me more of Pointillism, like Seurat. To me this picture works better if the rocks in the foreground was cropped. I personally really like grainy effect, when I was in college, I deliberately developed the film with warmer solution to achieve that (and ISO 800).

    Arrow Slide Question.

Personally I think Arrow Slide is a bit scarier than the North Slide. I'm more afraid of big slab than loose scree on a slide. The slab section on the North Slide is at the bottom of the slide, if you loose your footing there, you may not fall too far. When I climbed Arrow Slide, I stayed close...

Mt Abraham and Mt Ellen backpack?? (VT)

I've recently hiked Ellen and Abraham from Jerusalem trail to Lincoln Gap (N-S). Jerusalem Trail is very gentle all the way to Long Trail and even up to Ellen. The wooded ridge is an easy walk. The upper section after the summit of Abraham toward Lincoln Gap has couple of steep section...

    Adams Slide 9/22/07

Ridgewalker, it was pretty much what giggy said, the steepest part was in the woods, once you got out of the woods, it was pretty much your typical northern presi rock hopping kinda terrain. If you're looking to climb something like Arrow Slide or North Slide etc, Adams Slide is not in the...

    Adams Slide 9/22/07

When you see your hiking friends more often in bars than on a trail, you know you have a problem. So when giggy asked if I wanted to join his group to climb Adams Slide, I signed up without much hesitation. Most of the group were camped out at White Birches the night before, I probably the only...

    Killington and Pico Pico 9-22-07

Well at least you remembered to take the exit, I drove right pass it and had to turn around couple exits later. D'oh! I hiked Ellen and Abraham last weekend, that was my first hike in VT and I had the same impression about the green mossy trails.

Ditching the Franconia Ridge for the Bonds 9/2/07

Hey thanks for leading the trip, it was a lot of fun. The worst bushwhacking was from the dry riverbed to get to the bottom of the talus field, it was somewhat steep and very thick. Just a short distance of bushwhacking took a lot out of me. By the time we climbed the talus slide, I was pretty...

    I post trip reports because:

I chose "I'm proud of my accomplishments and I want to share that feeling with others" Although 2 out of the 3 reports I posted were not much of a accomplishment, but I felt like they're worthy experiences to me (a positive spin on my failures :p) and would like to share them. I also chose "I...

What electronics don't belong in Wilderness areas?

I always bring my cell phone(turn off) and camera on my hikes, sometimes my iPod and Palm just because I don't want to leave them in the car. I don't listen to music when I hike, and it doesn't bother me if other people do. I brought my iShuffle backpacking in ADK and up Rainier, Caetano Veloso...
