any problems with a yard Woodchuck?

Unleashing the dog seems like the simple solution to me. My terrier keeps my yard and garden free of woodchucks and unwanted rodents.

    Hut Traverse

These mega hike TR's keep my fire stoked to keep going bigger as I get older. Thanks for sharing, and for the stoke and hope that I might be able to do a 21 hour hut traverse when I'm 10 years older.

What would your meal plan look like for 2 night backpack trip

I hate wilderness cooking and hate cleaning up even more. I eat purely out of necessity on these trip. Pre-hard boiled eggs for breakfast day 1. Steel cut Oatmeal pre packaged in Freezer bags for breakfast Day 2. (Aeorpress makes the best camp coffee IMO, but I usually just use coffee or tea...

    Presidential Traverse 6/28

For day hikes *(just up Washington)Chile at the summit of Washington is a tradition, but for mega hikes I get a little more idealistic because of the epic nature of the larger undertaking. Its a dichotomy between ideals and reality for me.Idealistically I would like to be as self sufficient as...

    Moose on Franconia Ridge

One theory is that they go to the ridge to eat the new growth on the spruce. Since the spruce are shorter on and near the windswept summits and alpine zones its easier for them to chow on the new growth. Nice job on the 13 in 13 hours!

I finished the 48 in New Hampshire! 12 Years of adventure. 5-25-2014

Made the false summit mistake my first time up there too. I'm always impressed when someone who is too far away to make day trips from home gets their list. Cabot wasn't my 48th on my first circuit but it is a special mountain to me. I woke up in the Cabin on Cabot every January 1st for 10...

    Barnes Field / Mt Cabot

I camp there frequently in the winter and its rare that there are more than 2 or 3 other sites taken, even on the weekends. The forest service plows out the campground and even shovels out paths to the latrines.

    Trail respect

Being a backcountry skiers/snowboarder I always hate to see a ski route getting wrecked by postholers, Lately Ive seen a trend of snowshoers using classic backcountry ski lines as their route of ascent instead of using available hiking trails. This is just as disrespectful and does pretty much...
