    Little River Crossings?

Has anyone been up the North Twin trail recently? My last time up this was in Feb a couple of years ago when the crossings were solidly bridged by ice and snow. We'll go in the usual winter way via 7-Dwarfs.

    Passaconaway Epic

Actually, I had a Petzl Duo with fresh batteries in my glovebox that never made the transition to my backpack:o I usually do carry two just in case. I won't make that mistake again.

    Hiking close to home

I was on Straighback Mt on Saturday, lots of slash lumber laying around, somebody has logged the heck out of this area from Round Pond to Major. Trails were very well blazed though and we stayed on the trail fairly easily. It could be difficult after dark.

    Hiking close to home

Pawtuckaway! I'll add another recommendation to Pawtuckaway. The Devils Den on the shoulder of North Pawtuckaway is great, kids love it, don't forget the flashlights. We usually go in from Deerfield road which is a right turn off RT156 after the main park entrance. On Deerfield rd go about 3...

Big Winds Through Saturday (Tree Damage Likely)

We had some nice views from Mt Zealand last Monday but we were probably standing on 6 feet of snow. With all that snow, I would think the trees would be pretty well anchored down.

    Do we want more snow?

142" in Wolfeboro so far this winter. Wolfeboro Snow In Sandown where I live, we got nowheres near that. Still very few bare patches for us but the snow is shrinking. On the Twinway near Mt Zealand last Monday, there must've been 6 feet of snow at least, it's amazing and gave us views of...

    interesting sliding animal track/birdhouse?

There has been an otter playing in the deep snow along a pond in the woods behind my house. Their slide-tracks are much bigger than these. It's fun to see how these animals with short legs manage to get around with so much snow. :)

Mt Washington Auto Road-Does it Count?

That's true, I've called them and we will have to buy passes. I agree also that weather plays a big factor. We had it planned last March but the weather was bad so we postponed it. Oh, and I agree with Giggy :)

Mt Washington Auto Road-Does it Count?

Thanks Marc, I read this from a 1937 National Geographic copy about the White Mts. The hiker's line of least resistance is the Carriage Road which loops up the mountain in eighty odd curves. This automobile route to the summit is about twice as long as the hiking trails on the eastern...

Mt Washington Auto Road-Does it Count?

I've done Washington in all seasons from the traditional route and am hoping to do a winter ascent via the auto-road at night. If I needed it for my list, would it count?
