bushwhack well, i thought about it, but there weren't any bushes, and those sandy slopes didn't look inviting. could have headed straight up, but probably would have caused a slide, and been buried! so stuck to the trail. did do a couple of other bumps on the way up though, just to explore.

lava well, i wanted to test the theory that if i can walk on water, maybe i can walk on lava too

just the way it was, if i remember correctly. very steep and after the first part it does open up with the occasional view.

plan was climbing blake slide, but instead took direct route up old brook, mostly dry direct to top of blake. must be really nice up there when there is water flowing. found some cut log jams along the way up the brook. made great time until the last tenth of a mile, took an hour. very steep...

peak bgr and i will be bushwhacking south dix from the south fork of the bouquet on sunday. anyone interested in joining us? we will be taking the herdpath for the east dix slide, but will continue up the brook instead of climbing east dix. about a mile bushwhack to south dix, then we will go...

it was a great day for marcy! and what would a winter climb of marcy be without some snow and wind and (it's winter finally) too bad we couldn't see much, but hopefully we'll have a better day for haystack! check out the pictures of the white. marcy pics
