Rescues In The Mt. Washington Area - 10/06/2007

I wonder if Fish and Game is actually charginbg some of these people for being lost. Not these incidents in particular, but reading reports in the Union Leader about folks hiking and getting lost after dark, and then calling to get "bailed out" by F and G is intriguing. Do they know the days...

    Meals Ready to Eat

Military MRE's are all right.........just heavy to carry in a pack with 60 pounds of gear in an ALICE pack, rifle, flak vest....UGHHH  One used to give you 3000 calories, so eating alot of them would pack on some pounds.

    Why is it…?

I think you did us all a public service by screaming loud enough so the guy would fall and twist his ankle :p and we would not have to meet him on the trail for awhile. :)

    NH Traffic during weekday mornings

Compared to MA its a non-issue. Watch for speed traps in MA between exit 26-28 on Route 3 in MA. Then at the NH border where the "Border Patrol" of MA and NH troopers often sit, especially on weekends. The next area is at exit 7-8 along the Everett in Nashua. NPD is merciless and will nail...

Boston Beer Night to Celebrate Mats 48 Direct?

Looks like I'll have to miss this one. Heading to the doctors for x-rays at 3:00, and hopefully to have the splints on my hand removed! Perhaps I can hoist one with my left hand tomorrow night........ :)

    Non-trip non-report

Hey folks, thanks for all the support!! You really are a great bunch :) I ended up with a dislocated finger, another dislocated and fractured finger, numerous bruises and lacerations on my left hand, really banged up- but happily not dislocated or broken left shoulder- swollen and bruised...

You ain't kidding, lucky me!! :) I bet you haven't washed that sweatshirt since last February when you wore it; for fear of Red Sox contamination entering into your household laundry!! hahahaha

Cannon, NE Cannonball, N. Kinsman, S. Kinsman 7/26/2007

Interesting TR! I also did that same hike, only in reverse, finishing up on Cannon and then heading out via the Hi-Cannon trail to Lafeyette. It was also blistering hot, dusty, humid day when I did it. It appears the KR Trail still lives up to its well earned rep! :) Congrats on bagging 4...

"I Like IKE hike"....and the Sun FINALLY shines!!! :))

I was finally able to grab a day in the middle of the week, Tuesday, and head north to the Whites for some fun hiking. This vacation day actually coincided with the SUN actually shining in full glory. :) So hopefully my streak of zero visibility and rainy days in effect since last September...
