    Wool Mittens ?

Thanks all! Ordered a pair of Dachstein mitts and received them today via snail-mail, only took 3 days. Nice quality and very tight weave. Also going to order a pair of the double mitts to replace mine, (when they get my size.) Cheers, Stu

    Wool Mittens ?

Hi, I have a pair of "double" rag wool mittens (possibly "Dachenstein?), which I absolutley love. Bought these well over 20 years ago and wish I had bought 3 pair. They have some small holes (possibly by moths :(). Does anyone know where I can get these repaired (darned)? Are they still being...

    Carrying GPS on pack strap?

I have always used the screw-in clip attached to a shoulder strap on my pack. Never had a problem, although I do run a chest strap through the gps lanyard just in case. If the weather is bad (cold) I just put it inside a chest pocket or even inside an outer pocket of my pack. Never a problem...

    Liberty & Flume, 1/23

Took the normal route up and back via Liberty Spring Trail. Weather conditions were not as bad as forecast, basically a beautiful snowshoe route on a cold winter day! On the return trip a large group used sleds to smooth and harden the trail. :D Even though there was zero ice I noted many...

Well for what its worth Im also planning on hiking something in Franconia Notch on Sunday. For me the deciding factor will be the wind-speed. If its only around 5-10 mph I will probably attempt Liberty and possibly Flume. I think that when your group reaches LL, it will be obvious who is done...

    Iphone in the Whites?

Thanks Thanks for the opinions. Right now im stuck with the AT&T family plan. Knowing how bad the coverage is up north I have a tough decision to make, although the service is actually very good in my local area. I am optimistic that with the new competition AT&T may be forced to...

    The Bonds from Lincoln Woods.

Date of Hike: Dec 30, 2010 Trail Conditions: Snow amounts varied from 6-12” on the approach to 20-30” up on BC Tr., especially after Bond. Mixed ice/rock on Bondcliff and over the ridge. The usual amount of blow-down, not a problem and the stream crossings were easy. The Bondcliff Trail is now...
