    10-3 Wright Slide- Wright-Algonquin-Iroquois-Marshall

Great report. I wish I could have finished the day with you, as it is always an adventure to be out in the dark. I still have never been to "the shepards tooth". Looks like I've reasons to hike there again...

    Wright to Marshall

I'll meet you at 6 at the junction. Good call on leaving a car there. I'm trying to work a visit with an old friend from Plattsburgh. So I need to keep my sleeping options open for Saturday night;) .

    Wright to Marshall

South meadows road near the loj. I always try to get the spot right across from the gate on the truck road. It has enough room to pull your car in, and a great spot to put a tent. If all the spots are full for tent/car camping, I go to the end of the south meadows road, and sleep right next to...

    Kudos once again to EMS

Someone on this board found a section of hiking pole that was lost on the trip from Gray to Marcy. I had posted that I lost my eyeglasses up there. The guy that found the pole section emailed me saying he found it. I emailed the lady who lost her pole section telling her it had been found. She...

    Finising and Starting the 46

My friend jen started on Donaldson this past summer. I needed Emmons, and we went up the calkins brook route. We met a hiker from Chicago up there named Willie, and he said"who the hell starts on Donaldson". She has hiked some more of the traditional starters since then. She didn't enjoy the...

Bear containers are coming to ADKs

The bears in the high traffic areas get properly hung food bags. They even get bags hung on the cables. People that have never lost food probably have avoided flowed lands, lake colden, and marcy dam. I've seen improperly hung bags make it through the night too. It's all moot now, the regulation...

Elk Lake makes cover of Backpacker

I bought it just to see what they had to offer---there was nothing in there about the Adirondacks but an ad in the back showing some guy with dreadlocks standing on a high peak. This months issue of mens journal has an article about 50 day trips in the outdoors. For the Adirondacks, they say to...

Dog hiking question for high peaks

This isn't a should a dog hike there question so flamers need not reply. I plan on daytripping on one of the high peaks with a friend and my dog this saturday. I would like to stay off of fragile summits, and avoid crowds(and a leash). I'm thinking Seymour or Allen. I don't know if the hunters...

    Whiteface (a family finishes TOGETHER)

I would like to thank your family for inviting me along. When you guys crossed that last rock for the sign, I have to admit to getting a bit teary eyed. It brought back a lot of memories of my father, who doesn't get to hike anymore. I can't wait to hear the Everest trip report. Congrats, and...

Any sense in attempting MacNaughton this year without waders?

I did it a few weeks ago from heart lake. The stream that you cross after the lean-to was very high. If you come to it, it's the one with the giant breached stone dam, go upstream and cross in the slack water. After that, the trail is mostly a stream, with a few bog crossings that will posthole...
