    Hydration Packs vs. Water Bottles

I hear you about not knowing how much water is left in the camel back. This presents a potential problem, if you are only carring the camel back you would tend to conserve your water intake so you don't run out and could lead to dehydration.. If you know you will be able to refill somewhere...

At what point do you need plastic mountaineering boots ?

Chip, I have worn insulated leather boots in the Whites (day trips) in the winter for many years and had no issue with my feet being cold. I have found that my crampons (Grievel 10s) fit nice as well. However I would not want to spend the night with the leathers on. They will keep your feet...

    The Slomo Bonds Traverse 6/19

Hiker Bob, You do need to go back to Zeacliff on a clear day, has some of the best views around IMHO. I was there on a blue bird, crystal clear day last winter.

    The Bugs Are Out.

Last Saturday June 4th I Hiked up Blueberry Ledge trail to Whiteface and bugs not much of an issue BUT on Rollins Trail to Passaconaway they were nasty, mostly mosquito and large flies that did not bite only buzzed your head. If you stopped for even a short time you were in trouble.
