    Alpinista's AP Peakbagging Story

Lisa, Great story, very inspiring. Let me know if you are ever in need again for someone to haul up a flap pole for you to fly your flag for Flags on the 48, It would be my pleasure to do it again. :) Happy Trails Sticks

    VFTT Monadnock - Saturday 11/13/04

Hiker Bob, I purchased the Brunton weather gadget last year and I love it, takes the guess work out of some of the extreme weather conditions we hike in. Like Mt. Adams this year in July peak gust I recored near the summit (never made the top ) 59 mph with a temp of 34 degrees with...

    Windproof/water-resistant layer question

For me as a base layer I wear power dry underwear tops and bottom (mid weight) and then a fleece vest over that on top and a wind shell for the pants. I find this to be very comfortable even hot at times depending on the hike. Putting on or taking off your hat will also greatly affect how your...

    More Dog Stuff

Very sad indeed. Damn shame..... :( I love dogs (I have 3 golden retrivers) and have had dogs all my life. I have hiked with them (and yes they are leashed), take them camping and taken them just about everywhere else with me. They are the best companions you could ever ask for. My thoughts...

    The Transit of Venus 6/8

Blue, I am impressed with all this knowledge..... I was able to see Venus this morning at 6:30 through ground fog. The sun had a tough time shinning through the fog where I live in S. N.H. Venus appeared as a little dot on the right side of the sun. Very awesome to view this. I wonder if...

Break Out the Bug Dope: The Ticks are Here!

After reading all this on ticks I thought I would share this with the hiking community. Last year (around mid March) I found a tick on my inner thigh that had imbedded itself. This was after a hike in the Whites. I removed the tick and thought that I removed all of it. A few days later a rash...
