What do you think of this study ?

I ice climb all winter and spent a week glacier climbing near Denali in June. I'm currently planning a trip to Ranier and perhaps Denali after that. Why? - It's fun and I just don't get the same feeling of excitement and satisfaction doing anything else. When you are ice climbing your entire...

    Hiking pole grip chafe

The best solution is to grip a cold beverage of your choice with the chafed area when you are done hiking!!!! You'll forget all about it after a few :D

    Turn around....

I recently met a guy in Alaska who had weighed 350 lbs and smoked. He had a life altering experience, changed his diet, started exercising, and in 18 months lost 150#. If that is not enough - he rode his bike from Bellingham Washington to Talkeetna and on July 2, 2005 summited Denali. You...

    Elk Pass

I think there is a legal marked camping spot just upon entering state land from the AMR heading into Elk pass and another at Lycopodium Pond slightly after the trail cuts off for Colvin.

    coreys road?

The last time I drove into the Corey's trailhead (2 yrs ago) there were no problems. I don't remember it taking too long. I don't think sleeping in your car would be an issue either, I've slept in my truck bed at the Allen trailhead and know of many others who have slept at remote trailheads...

    Alaska Range and Denali - Chapters 6 & 7

Ranier next summer and return to Alaska in 2007 - if all goes well on Ranier, Denali may be a possibility. I'm not taking it lightly having seen and talked to climbers who got stormed in for a week at high camp and never got a chance to summit. One of our guides did not summit until their 4th...

    Swimming Holes

Yeah - that was my climbing partners thread on NEice. Summer ice? - I just returned from a week on a glacier in Alaska. 24 hour sun and lots of ice - it was not shorts and tee shirt weather though.

    Swimming Holes

Blue Ledge....slowly I turned, step by step... Shadowcat; You should see Blue Ledge in the winter - there is awesome ice all the way down the ledges. Problem is getting across the Hudson since it does not freeze over because the water is moving too fast. We could not figure out a safe way to...
