    Day hike ideas in Colorado

Someone mentioned Longs Peak. Yeah, GREAT hike but a long one for a day especially when one should start the hike at like 4am the latest. Might be better off going part way up to the Keyhole. A plenty awesome spot to chill and hang out for lunch with plenty of killer views and areas to...

Winter Gathering NH Barnes Field February 21-23

I know bro...just kidding LOL! Expecting the worst  Did I see something about fires in this thread? Rings iced in? Ouch. I have a fire pit that stands off the ground about 8 inches. Should I bring it?

Thanks everyone! Might be a toss-up now between Halcot and Rusk. Taking a newbee with me and don't wanna over work the kid hahaha. At the same time, wanna bang out peaks I need for a second round of the 35. Rusk also has a canister according to the link...thanks Jay!

    Hip Snap Exercises

Sounds like performing a good hip-snap is a result of good core strength, no? If you want a good one-hour workout for improving core strength, you might want to try the "Core Synergistics" dvd as part of P90X. And for flexibility...yoga. If you haven't tried it already...definitely do. It works.

    Adirondack Water Levels

Recently returned from Long Lake in the Adirondacks. If anyone is interested in paddling in the very near future in the same area...water levels are dropping but are still about 3 feet above normal for this time of year. Over the course of the week there, the water level dropped a little more...

Have You Paddled a Fjord…. Lately?

Wow...awesome trip! You're photos are great too! In places like that, it's almost as if the glaciers had just left. The landscapes there look amazing! It must've been really nice too doing long day trips and coming back each night to a nice base camp to sleep and refuel for the next day's...

    Your paddle plans?

Hey Dax, Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Need to check my posts a little more often. Spent two nights on the lake in the vicinity of the Otter Creek. Didn't get enough though and want to go back asap! Next trip will include Plattsburgh to Swanton, or Swanton to Plattsburgh, with two...

Rediscovering the Old trails of the New Deal - NH, VT, MA

Ahh...didn't know skiers had to go up the mountain first. Now that sounds challenging! So they hike up...then ski down? Cool.

Rediscovering the Old trails of the New Deal - NH, VT, MA

The race sounds exciting! I don't understand though how it will take racers in top shape at least an hour to finish. Isn't it a downhill race?

    Catskills: Bear Pen and Vly

Well...the Catskills sure are awesome! Another great trip. Vly first, then Bearpen. Absolutely beautiful. A little snow...a little sun...and a little wind. All good! Up to the col, we bare-booted it although there are some icy spots under the inch-of-snow coating. Not long after our hike up...

    Catskills: Bear Pen and Vly

OK, thanks All, Didn't bother spending the hour+ in traffic to get to EMS and back today to pick up microspikes. Wish there was one closer. Would have liked to pick them up. Anyway... Will definitely bring the crampons!

    Catskills: Bear Pen and Vly

Ok, things are looking like a go finally. I remember a canister on Vly back in the '90s but that was a while ago. Still there, right? Also, any updates on snow/trail conditions would be greatly appreciated. Would crampons be overkill? Did a lot of snow melt these last few days? Thanks! IC
