OK...so if you had an opportunity to paddle anywhere in the world, where would it be? What would be the ideal trip for you and why? Basically...where and why? I'll start it off... Ummm...it wouldn't be anywhere in Africa or Europe. We're talking the ultimate trip here...so South America...

I like the cotton balls and petroleum jelly but I also carry one of these. Looks like they have quite a selection of options here as well. As far as fuel for my stove goes, I carry white gas, unpressurized until I'm ready to use it (MSR). If need be, this can also be poured out and lit. Just...

Looked all over my map...don't see where it indicates what edition I have. Does that mean I have the first edition?

Thanks DSettahr...had a feeling. And yes, sometimes, a tent is a lot nicer than the leanto but this time I think I'm gonna try the leanto. Maybe give it a sweep first and light a fire. I don't know what it is...I just can't stand breaking down a tent in the morning. I'm lazy.

That's awesome! Was there this passed summer. Didn't see whales but saw some seals off Race Point and Herring Cove. What are you paddling? Watch out for those great whites :eek:;) They're down by Monomoy Islands, I think.

Wow Stinky, that's awesome! I've done one...yep...just one...but I certainly want to get back and do more. I did Longs in 2009 and I totally understand what you mean by the mental challenge and building confidence. The exposure was a first for me and it took a lot to push on at some points...

Thanks a lot teejay. Thought about paddling to it but it'll probably be like midnight by the time I get to Axton so I think I'll hike it. Unless of course the sky is clear and the moon has everything illuminated on the night I get there. I should look that up and see what phase it'll be in...

Spoke with a Ranger this morning who covers the Saranac Lakes...she said to be careful as Bear Season is soon (as indicated on another thread here somewhere)

That's great. Thanks a lot! Good point on the "signing in." Will keep that in mind and have a backup plan in case it is occupied by paddlers. This Stony Creek leanto is where I would like to start a paddle trip actually. So, this map is wrong, right? That's Coreys Road crossing Stony Creek.
