    Rusk 8-15-07

The pics of prickers, nettles and blowdown don't do the terrain justice but you'll get the idea. Even Bookah was slowed down by the stuff - not her usual bounding, exuberant self. However, she certainly seemed to enjoy the few water seeps and the stream near the end of the hike...

    Indian Head/Twin Mts. Hike 7-7-07

It looks like the trail report falls to me this time, so ........ Dick, Alan, and I took what proved to be a shorter route from Albany area and managed to arrive a few minutes before 8:30 a.m at the Roaring Kill Trailhead. Rob pulled in a seconds later, having left home in New Jersey very early...

Some notes on the Haute Route

Mohamed- In 2005 rhihn and I hiked the Haute Route. We combined hiking with train and bus transportation to maximize the mountain experience and avoid some of the roads and less appealing portions of the route. Here is a much abbreviated pictoral journal. If you would like more detailed info...

Thanks so much, Mark. You have given me valuable info. which I will use to plan my shots. I will use a tripod and also have a remote controller to use in B mode for aerial fireworks. We will be on the Great Sacandaga Lake - not in Albany this year. I appreciate your sharing the settings...

    Tips on Fireworks Pics

I'm anxious to take holiday fireworks shots using my new Canon Rebel XTi. Any suggestions as to general set-up, settings etc. ? In addition to the 17-85 mm lens I purchased with the camera I also have a 70-210 mm telephoto lens. Thanks in advance for any tips!

    Peekamoose and Table - 6/29/07

Thanks, Mark. Can't take credit for the "Bookah" pics. Alan got a hold of the camera while I was otherwise occupied at the trailhead. Great avatar material, I agree. Looks like we'll have to investigate that field when we climb the unnamed CAT 200 peak you described (are you seeing this, Alan)!

    Peekamoose and Table - 6/29/07

Thanks Doc and i12climbup! Those flower shots put me several minutes behind Alan and Dick on the trail, but how could I resist! I'm not sure what was in Alan's Gatorade. He's never done that before  No wonder we didn't see a bear that day!

    Peekamoose and Table - 6/29/07

Thanks MJ! Yes, the depth-of-field capabilities of my new "toy" are amazing, as well as the quality of macro shots. The good-natured ribbing on the trail is great fun! I have two wonderful hiking partners!

    Trip to Utah 5/13/-5/23

Thanks everybody. Yes, after visiting the Grand Canyon last year, we knew we had to go back. We were drawn to Buckskin Gulch/Paria Canyon which are considered by many to be the most dramatic of the slot canyons. We weren't disappointed. The 14 mile first day through Buckskin Gulch was...
