Almost The Last Trip Of North Country Paddling Season

We've definitely talked about it and want to get there someday. I would like to depart for the north shore of Long Island...the trip from there would be about 8 miles across the Sound. Perhaps we can all meet out there in the "off season" some time soon. Just did a quick search...looks like...

AWESOME SHOTS! Never been to the whites. That makes me want to go so bad! Did you guys camp out? How many miles in all?

Drop us a line anytime. We can plan a winter paddle down here...day trip, overnighter, several day trips back to back, etc...

What does VFTT mean to you?

Let's not forget the social group "Drinkers with a Hiking Problem!" (which has unfortunately been lacking in posts lately...DRINK UP PEOPLE!!!)

    Vroomans nose

Nice hike. And no place better than the Schoharie Valley! I did it in winter once and the lot was plowed. Make sure to look for the ancient burrow casts (tunnels made by worms in mud) on the peak. Cool stuff...if not buried in snow.

    Solo Unsupported January Denali Attempt

Perspiration, heat (et al)...a calorie is a measure of heat energy, right. Most of it will be burned.

    Cape Cod

Good to know. I figured as much. Based on its proximity to P-town and Race Point (and mainly your recommendation), I'm thinking we're gonna stay at Dunes Edge. I'd like to try to get around on bikes more rather than having to drive around once we get there so Dunes Edge sounds pretty good...

What does that mean? "Do something big at the summit..." Like what?

    Cape Cod

BTW...one more question. Probably going to spend three nights in Cape Cod. One night I'm thinking I want to get some seafood in town instead of cooking in camp. Any suggestions on a nice seafood place? Really roughing it this time...:D BTW...if spending three nights, would you go during...

    Cape Cod

You got me there. The idea sounds great but as for paddling with family to Washburn...the logistics become more than I want to deal with on this trip. Thank you though for the suggestions on rentals. Will remember that Stan...especially the one in Orleans. The Pleasant Bays look cool on...

    Cape Cod

Thanks brianW but looking to get closer to Cape Cod. Nickerson sounds great too DrJJFate and Ridgewalker but again...looking to get out on "the hook." Is that what it's called? As for Washburn Island Stan...sounds great but don't have a boat. Dunes Edge, Paines and North of Highland all...

Another vote for the G-10 The only pair I've ever owned but I will say that I'm very happy with my G-10s.

Almost The Last Trip Of North Country Paddling Season

You're right. As we speak, ColdFeet and I are planning a salt water assault of some lesser visited sites in one of Long Island's north shore coves or in one of the south shore bays...;) Oh...and thanks for the tip on map #6. Other than the NFCT though (in warmer weather), I was actually...

    Cape Cod

Considering camping on the coast somewhere in New England this summer. Had Cape Cod in mind. Any nice camping you know of to be found in that area? Will have family with so basic facilities (toilets/showers) would be fine...just not the KOA et al type. Saw this place. Looks pretty cool...
