    Emma's last hike... Piper/Belknap/Gunstock 5/4/13

So sorry to hear about your dog loss. I realize how difficult it is to lose a family pet. I lost a wonderful hiking companion suddenly in 2000 and I was pretty devastated, since it was unexpected. At least your dog had a wonderful life and her last day was spent in the mountains!! You can't ask...

Beautiful! My husband and his buddy left early thursday, skiied in and wanted to ice climb friday. His friend's crampon broke on one short ice climb they were doing and the avalanche danger and white out conditions forced them to leave Saturday since conditions were n't improving.

Jeremy Jones - snowboarder and mountaineer

I wonder how long it will be before we read his obit? I agree. One thing that gets me is how fair is that to live that lifestyle when you have children? I for one feel that it selfish to try and do this whe they try to do both. Not only do the kids risk losing a father, he's probably gone a...

Are we hardwired to hate exercise? article

"efficiency" now that is well stated. I suppose hunter gatherer's became quite efficient as part of survival, now it might be called "laziness!!!" I'm fascinated by people (particuarly those whom I work with) who don't get out into nature and excercise. My boss, my colleagues none of them have...

Are we hardwired to hate exercise? article

I agree with this as well. I was the kid who was always out til' dark andwas off riding my bike, playing "dodgeball" walking around town as a preteen then in high school started running, road cycling, riding horses, going into adulthood started hiking, xc skiing, running, mtn biking. So I think...

A Sunny, yet Cold & Windy Day on Mt. Tecumseh- 2-18-13

Wow your crankin' them out!! Great job for getting out in the cold and wind! I have this fear of a tree limb or tree landing on my head on those really windy days! While heading out to the barn this weekend a large "crack" rang out in the tree above and I started running like crazy, trying to...

Are we hardwired to hate exercise? article

I also HATE exercise on what I call the "artificial" stuff. My husband has a rower and he for some god forsaken reason "loves it." I can't ride a rower, a stationary bike, treadmill, or nordictrack or any other stupid gadget. I always wonder what an alien would think of humans riding these...

    Camp nasty

Cool pics! Lauky sounds like my dog who has an amazing nose for finding his tennis balls he lost last fall buried in the snow, along with some unlucky varmints. That place has character that's for sure!
