The first mile or so of the Liberty trail up to the stream is very smooth underfoot, an easy warm up. From the stream on, the trail gets a bit rougher, but is not a really rough (bony) trail. There is one blow down that is easily skirted. The stream itself was easily crossed. The water was low enough you could almost have waded through without it going over the tops of your boots.
Above the cabin, the ledges were dry and presented no difficulty.
The views, Monday, were spectacular. There was just a slight breeze at the top. We arrived early and were the only car in the parking lot when we arrived. There were at least twenty when we returned.
We climbed Chocorua today at the request of the widow of a friend who recently died. Chocorua was his favorite mountain and he loved to spend the night at the cabin. It was a special trip in memory of him.
RIP dear friend. The mountain is forever yours.
