# 13 falls. hiked on june 3rd and 4th via gale river trail, twin brook trail, Franconia brook trail, Lincoln woods trail with overnight stay at galehead. # 13 falls are at the old log camp #13. recent rains made for some good flow and the river is a great natural feature and a nice place to just hang out. great swimming hole on the lower end but a little to cool for us this time of year. gale river trail was muddy in places requiring us to walk the edges to stay dry. twin brook, was was dry and steep and we even seen some remaining winter ice. Franconia brook had the usual many water crossings but all were hopped with our boots on. some mosquitos starting to bite and a few black flies if you stopped. the cool night (34 degrees) may of kept the bugs down a bit. we did not use any repellent in the 2 days but I think they will be out as things warm up this week. 15 miles over 2 days. great hike with pink and white lady slippers and trillium in the valley. seen 3 rabbits and a porcupine that was just following the trail with us. hiked with laureen and ashley. laureen's first hut. great time had by all and the cru at the hut treated us great.
