Hey, we're getting there!!

We hit #14 this weekend (Mt. Moosauliki)!! WHOO HOO for us

So, what should we hit next? Probably within the next 2 - 3 weeks:

Tripyramids via Sabbaday Brook trail
Osecolas via Greely pond trail
Hancocks via the Hancock loop trail (starting from Rte 112)

Just looking for in put on trail conditions this time of year...(surprise huh?)

You'll very likely have a tough time on Sabbaday Brook trail at this time of year with all of the stream crossings, especially with this extra-warm weather. Use Pine Bend Brook trail if you really want to hike the Tri-Pyramids.

Hancocks trip also has 5 stream crossings, but you can stay to the right of the stream and avoid some or all of them.

Osceolas will be your easiest trip in terms of stream crossing issues (there are none). But the steep trails might be tough in the softening snow.

i'd second bob that you'll need to watch out for stream crossings on those routes. sabbaday may well be worth avoiding (pinebend or scaur ridge trail via livermore trail would be good alternatives), crossings going to hancock are easily bypassed as he said. there is one sizable crossing (hancock south fork) on greeley ponds trail heading to osceola. if it is problematic you could hike in the cross country ski trail that starts a couple tenths west from greeley ponds trailhead on the kanc.
have fun.

Looked at my maps last night...

Pierce and Eisenhour from the rte 302 trailhead of Crawford path...to Mizpah Hut then over the peaks looks doable...

How about that?

Not sure why you are going to the hut ... the section from the hut to the summit of Pierce is much steeper (and, in summer, much rougher) than the rest of the trip. Also gets much less use, so more chance of not being broken out.

The hike from Pierce to Eisenhower and back is wonderful on a day with good weather. Hope you have a great hike!!

Just thought it would be cool...we like to see the huts (just to say we've been there?)

BUT...if that would make for a stinky hike...then we skip and head straight on the Crawford path.

How is the side trip to the Crawford Cliffs? Would that be a worth while diversion?

Piece/Ike

I know a few folks who hiked to Ike via the Crawford Path, up the Ike Loop and back down to the Edmands Path side. They then went back towards Pierce(Crawford Path of course!) and hit the summit via Webster Cliff Trail and down to the hut. Then they went out by the Mizpah Cutoff back to Crawford Path. But that was in summer so the going was easy!! Pierce by itself is a great goal for an easy day hike..hope you get great weather!! Lefty E....

Good info all around.

I think we are going to do Pierce/Ike...and then, depending on weather...over to Monroe...this is about 12.6 miles there and back.

how are the cols between each peak? Anything to worry about?
