19 Mile Brook trail well packed like a sidewalk all the way.
The Carter Dome trail to Zeta Pass was also well packed out with just a bit more powder on top.
Zeta Pass to South Carter was not/is now, but the trail was difficult to follow at times. Conditions on the north side of South Carter were very tough with deep drifts and low hanging icy trees at face level.
Used poles, Microspikes and snow shoes, crampons not really needed. I find the Microspikes ball up underneath now that stickier snow is underfoot.
We hoped to do Middle Carter and Exit by way of the Imp Trail, but we made a valiant effort but only went about a 1/2 mile before we decided to go back the way we came, not know what conditions were in front of us, and the way it was going was taking forever!
Beautiful day to end out an amazing winter!
See my hiking videos at www.youtube.com/islandside although, South Carter will not be posted for a few days. See my pictures at http://community.webshots.com/user/islandside?vhost=community
