I originally posted some interest in this terrific event but the S.O. put the kybosh on it. I will try to make it next year, as it looks like a terrific event. I know you folks will have a great time. Bubba, I really think you need to finish the ADK 46, as I hear it puts hair on your chest!

Imagine the peakbagging that would get done if it weren't for all those pesky "S.O.'s".
We love our SO's but we all have this mistress (un aimant) and we get up in the middle of the night to meet her and come back home beat-up and dirty and stinking but with such a smile! Rock on!
:D

Hey Bubba, thanks for putting the list together, looking forward to see you again this weekend. May I know how many miles in total for the hike you and Spence have in mind for Saturday?

Colvin and Blake look pretty good too, I saw the awesome pictures from LumberZac recent adventure, very tempting...

Saturdays hike is around 8 miles total. 4-5 miles is bushwhack through open woods, the rest is a trail to a second car.

Parking
Is in the same spot-a small, narrow drive just before my house. I will have it marked with flags. The drive goes through a field, the edges of the drive are a little grown up this year from all the rain we had this spring. Just find a spot to pull off so as to not block others. The drive goes right around to my backyard, but not into. Feel free to fill my front driveway first.

Ferry to my house
Once off the NY side, take a left to the light then a right. Go straight, you will cross railroad tracks and not long after there will be a sharp left in the road. Directly in that turn is a road to the right County Route 12. Take that-go down over the bridge and take a right. Go up the steep hill and continue to a stop sign-take a right. Stay on this road it will go right by my house. It makes a sharp left, away from another road, and goes through a cross roads-just keep straight. From the cross roads it's only a couple minutes.

If you're late it's quicker to just go this way and hit I87 just past my place.

I'll be there (with Craig in tow - he has no IDEA what he is in for  )! And I will be bringing chicken quesadillas (mild) and veggie quesadillas (HOT!).

Not sure what we will be hiking - Craig is a newbie and hasn't hiked much. But we would love to join anyone on something relatively easy.

We will be arriving Thursday evening.

eagle slide up giant interest???

we are in the midst of a very DRY stretch of weather: the exact key necessary ingredient for climbing the eagle slide up giant. i would be looking to do the BEAUTIFUL, DRY 3rd/4th class granite slide on friday. i solo'd the trap dyke last week alone...so i'm looking for some company this time. any takers? ;)

oops! ps!

ps. 90% sure i will be up there with you guys on fri. and sat. i am VERY interested in the jay range hike(s) on saturday!

Looks like I may be able to attend after all

Thinking of Hoffman on Friday and maybe fire towers on Sunday, look me up if interested will probably have orange wall tent

Solo'd alone? Is that something new that people are doing? :)

Looks like I will be able to arrive Thursday night, this sounds pretty bad a&&, I should be there (at Spence's) somewhre around 8:00 if all goes well - keep me in mind for this.

Oh, and I'll have smoked salmon cream cheese spread and crackers for a contribution, in case anyone cares.

Slide Climb?

Hey kdk1610,

I'd be interested in climbing the Eagle or any slide for that matter on Saturday. When were you planning to go?

Or, Sunday, we could solo the standard route on Chapel Pond?

You made me change my mind!

Let me know!

Ken

PS MichaelJ, If there's going to be that many people at the BBQ, I was thinking I'd bring some sweet corn as well. How much were you going to bring?

I'm outta here!!! :D :D Still have a drive in front of me... I won't get in till after 9pm, later if I meet up with teejay for dinner!!

Ken, I believe that last year Michael brought a bushel that he picks up from a farmer along the way.

Can do! Hurricane Kitty! :D

Thanks for the post!

Tom, vote now :

1. Maudite (Unibroue)

2. Coup de grisou (Cheval Blanc)

We have a new beer on the shelves in Mtl, called «Gros Cochon» (Fat pig)...
And I'm under the impression that it is originally from Utica, NY.

Tom, can you tell me more about it ?
