I think the "Oriental Express" IS an official cause of death. Naturally, I always hate to see stories of this nature, but all things considered, it is far more interesting than "dying of natural causes after a long and boring life."

Some people do survive it...

General info:

The Oriental Express is a steep couloir high on Denali. http://www.glassmountains.com/gallery/dn96/dn96_orient_express.html It tends to attract extreme skiers and there have been a number of fatal accidents in it.

why were his skis and pack so far away you think he slipped and fell?
The report states: "The park's A-Star B3 helicopter then swept the area and discovered his skis and backpack stashed at a rock band in the Football Field, more than 4,000 feet above his body. "

He was probably not wearing them when he fell. If he fell while wearing them, they would most likely be with him or scattered up and down the couloir.

Yes, I'm aware ... more than likely, he had his pack stashed for whatever reason and fell in a moment of carelessness.
I wasn't sure from your post whether you knew what it (the Oriental Express) is. In any case, I'm sure many others did not know.

We will probably never know whether he slipped, was blown off, or fell for some other reason.
