Kearsarge: via Winslow Trail, descent Barlow Trail
Cardigan: West Ridge to South Ridge Trail, Fire Warden's Cabin to North Peak, descent West Ridge Trail
Based on the wisdom of Big Earl and Redliner I decided that my trail time should be close to my driving time for the day and bagged these two peaks off the 52 With a View list. Kearsarge is also on the County High Points list so it was my main objective.
All trails were in great shape with minimal insect activity. I missed the helicopter activity on Kearsarge but did see a harnessed crew working on the comm. tower.
For anyone looking to check out Cardigan for the first time I highly suggest this route. The South Peak is a fun ascent and offers a great vantage point of the actual summit. The South Ridge Trail also offers some nice steep sections that, in my opinion, make this short journey more interesting.
A great day to be out,
