I think it's fine; the National Park is already named Denali. We could rename Marcy Tahawus; and rename Everest Sagarmatha or Chomolungma. too, if we needed another political "pop" in another month. All fine; the mountain will be the same.

They are renaming it to one Native Group's name. The backlash (from Ohio - McKinley was from Ohio) has already begun....

A few years back when I went to Denali National Park, it was referred to as either/or.... or, to a tourist: "DENALI/MCKINLEY"

Didn't matter to me, but, the state should be able to choose what they want to call it!!!! If they want Denali, fine!!!!

Little did I realize when I posted the original back in 2015 that the name would revert back to Mt. McKinley, but that was a Day 1 priority, because...it's so important and the people of Alaska were clamoring for it. Hard to believe that made the inaugural address, but it did, and Alaska's three elected members of Congress are not pleased about it. I can't imagine who is, actually.

I've no political skin in this game and it took me a few moments to get used to saying Denali back in the day, but I like Denali better.

Besides, I thought names couldn't be changed without approval from the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.
