The first one is an excellent exposure with lots of interesting elements. Unfortunately the twin subjects (brightest part of the waterfall, and the dog) are very near the exact center of the shot, so it cries out for some creative cropping. No obvious solution is jumping out at me, but I'm sure others will have some suggestions.
The second one has an exposure problem: the background is shadier than the foreground, so the foreground is overexposed (the exposure on the dog is just slightly too bright too). I'd crop away most of the mossy area below the trail, which eliminates or marginalizes the distracting white spots, also brings the dog down to the lower-left rule-of-thirds sweet spot. This crop keeps all of the trail in the shot, which I think is an important part of the "story."
You might also try cropping out the bright "hanging branch" at upper right, which is slightly distracting. I like the result if you crop from the right side, ending up with a very vertical photo.
