A Late Fall...and Early Spring walk along Mont Vernon trail

This was a strange little hike for me. I'm def feeling under the weather, but this is the first nice day that I've had off in 2 weeks, so I said "screw it" and got out for at least some walking. I decided to check out the Mont Vernon trail on the VA side of the Potomac River. I didn't travel far...maybe 2 miles towards DCA, but I decided to take some side paths near Arlington Cemetery and take the metro back...just wasn't feeling well.

Weather was great: Sunny, in the 50s....when i was out of the wind, it was beautiful. Though when I walked up towards the metro it was very breezy. Added to my usual hiking sweat, it chilled me down.

This was definitely a strange hike because I felt like I was walking in two different opposite seasons...fall, and spring. There was some leftover fall foliage, and in other areas, the photo ops might lead someone to believe that it is only April. Well, you will see what I'm talking about with the pics.....

Now I'm out of DC, near my apt. These remind me of early spring. I think it is because of the willow trees

Can we please have some snow, to help with my confusion, as to which season it really is!?

Thanks. Come to find out, I have a sinus infection...so antibiotics it is. Now I know why I was feelin cruddy the other day.

Glad you like the pictures. Wish I could take more than just bodies of water and trees, but thats about all the nature we have in this area. Once I get a good macro camera, I think a whole new world will open up.
